I just installed a new Hotpoint dishwasher and it will not drain. I followed the directions to the end. I have pulled of the drain hose and it will not pump the water into a bucket. Is my motor bad?

Remove the drain hose from the sink and see if it will drain into a pail, if not then you have a problem with the machine that is covered under warranty

I just install brand new dishwasher, and test it, but it doesn't drain all the water out, can you help.

WHen installing your machine it should have a high loop in the drain hose that means the drain hose under the sink is higher at one point that the drain its attached too with a corregated hose this is very easy to usea plastic zip tie and attatch a part of the hose to a higher point than where it connects to the drain. DID YOU DO THAT ?? if not that very likely is your trouble

Hope this helps

The intake drain light is flashing and there is water in the bottom of the washer that wont drain

I had the same problem. Went through every troubleshooting tip I got. Cleaned the catch filter, checked the drain for blockage, checked the impellor to see if it was free. All was fine. Turned power off, turned back on, selected cycle and heard 1) the water drain. 2) the draw of fresh water into machine. ) all became silent and after several minute, the drain light started to flash. After getting frustrated with this isue I called Miele, they did a diagnostic over the phone by having me push a series of buttons on the panel a certain way. My machine was diagnosed by MIELE as having a bad relay switch. I was told 90 dollars plus 175 install and tech visit. I agreed. When the tech arrived he did his diagnostics, he told me MIELE reps on phone were wrong. He told me I needed a new water pump at 385.00 plus 175 install for a total of 560.00 I told him no way would I ever spend 560 + tax to repair a machine that I paid 1900 dollars for and was 4 years old. I told him I would buy a 600 dollar Samsung first before I gave him 600 for a repair. He felt his job was complete and I wasnt buying the pump story. I started questioning various things and brought up what would the appropriate soap and measure amount be for it. I told him we were currently using the Electrasol gel balls. THAT IS WHEN HE SAID, THE REASON FOR MY MALFUNCTION WAS JUST THAT. I WAS TOLD POWDER ONLY IN SMALL AMOUNTS, NOT GEL PACKETS !!!!! The gel was not dissolving completely and gumming up the impellor making it hard for it to spin. 3 weeks later machine has worked flawlessly. If you are using gel PLEASE STOP. Also I was told to squirt rinse aid in the opening under the screen, there is a **** towards the back. Remove handle and screen from inside tub. see a 2 inch wide opening, squirt the rinse aid , a small amount in there and leave overnight. This rees up the gummy residue in there. Manually run your water until its hot. And run a cycle GOOD LUCK !!!

Wont drain water out, have replaced filter. machine beeps and wont empty out old water. Whirlpool dishwasher, model adg7440

New garbage disposal? It's happened many times in my career- customer installs a new disposal then the dishwasher won't drain so they buy a new dishwasher to find the disposal didn't have the knock out knocked out. Check the easy stuff first.

No water is getting into the machine

First check the simple stuff. Have you installed a new garbage disposal? Did you remember to remove the knock out plug? I've seen it a hundred times.

Next, remove the lower panels, and look for any evidence of leakage. The Hotpoint is made by GE and it has the ablility to leak in about 6 different places. Most repairmen will advise a new dishwasher if there is any evidence of serious leakage. On the left side of the pump/motor assy is the drain solonoid. If it is corroded, it is probably stuck in the drain position and water if pumped out as fast as it is put in. The chrome plunger should go up and down as you slowly turn the timer. If that is corroded, you are looking at a $200-300 repair to replace the entire assembly. If that functions OK try this:

Turn the water off, remove the lower panels and disconnect the water line from the machine. Hold waterline over a bucket and turn on. Water flow? If yes, check intake solonoid. You should get 110 volts at the hot wire when timer is on the fill position. Sometimes, the screen in the solonoid can get clogged, especially if you have hard water. Look for gunk in the hole where the waterline was and try to clean it out.

The first thing to check with any of the newer dishwashers is the water temprature coming into the machine and the amount of water coming in. Since you are having trouble with the detergent dissolving, I expect the water is not hot enough. Many of the detergents require 140 degrees f to dissolve properly.

The incoming water should be 120 degrees minimum, then the dishwasher will heat it up some more. The cooler the water, the longer the cycle will take. It won't advance to the next step until the water reaches a certain temp, depending on the cycle selected and the model of dishwasher.

If the dishwasher has to heat the water too much, it will cause the heat element to fail prematurely.

If your water heater is set to the average 130-135 setting, then you may be able to solve your problem by running the hot water at the sink before turning the dishwasher on. This will get the cold water flushed from the pipes so the washer fills with hot water on the first fill.

Also. start the washer in a cycle, let it fill and start washing. Open the door and see how much water is in the tub. It should come up to the bottom of the heating element.

Post back and let me know what you find out.

Dishes not getting clean

when your dishwasher was reinstalled was the discharge hose loop up high behind dishwasher to prevent the water from draining? Also make sure that there is air gap where the hose ties into the drain.
