Your situation isn't critical, but very unpleasant. To your fortune I quite often was in similar conditions. I found decisions quite often. Moreover my last solution was - Excel repair. Perhaps it can help you better than my speech.

Corrupt excel 2010 file

1 - Using "Open and repair"

Microsoft Excel has a built-in repair tool for corrupted files. To access it, go to File and Open. A menu will pop up in which you'll have to select the file you want to fix and then choose "Open and repair" from the dropdown menu. This will open a dialogue box in which you can pick between the repair option (which will recover as much information as possible) and the extract option (that will copy values and formulas). The two alternatives combined should work fine to save your work.

2 - Saving the file to a different format

If you can open the file but you can't modify it or save the changes, you should use this method. You'll have to save the file to a different format (such as SYLK or HTML) via the "Save as" menu. Once you've done this, you'll have to open the recently saved file and then save it once again (but this time, you'll have to choose the Excel Workbook as the format). By doing this, you'll be creating a fresh new file with all the data from the corrupted file.

3 - Opening the file in Microsoft Word

This option is only available for the people that have the Microsoft Excel converter installed on their PC (it can be downloaded from the Microsoft website). You simply have to open the corrupted Excel file with Word. However, you should know that this method only works for retrieving data (all the structures from the sheet will be gone, such as formulas and macros).

4 - Altering the Calculation option

If your file isn't opening at all you can try to adjust the calculation option. Simply open Excel in a blank workbook, go to the "Tools" menu and look for "Options". There you'll find the "Calculation" tab in which you'll have to look for the "Calculation" section and set it to "Manual". Click OK and then try to open the corrupted file once again.

5 - Linking the corrupted file

In this method, you'll have to link one cell of a blank worksheet to the corrupted workbook. Be sure to create the new worksheet in the same location as the corrupted file. Once you've done this go to the blank worksheet and enter the following in the A1 cell: <Filename>!A1. This will copy the data from the A1 cell of the corrupted file to the new sheet. In case it works, simply click "Edit" on the cell and select an area like the one covers the cell that contain data in the damaged file, and then click Paste. Then (and with the cells still selected) click Copy on the Edit menu.

How can i export the data tally to excel

Hi,

There are 2 ways to do it..

Step 1
You can export as text and import it back to excel using the text file you created.
Or
You can select HTML and give the file name as eg-XYZ.xls

Step 2

You can export all reports and statements. For this a separate export button is provided in right hand button bar. To do this go to any report e.g. day book you to export or any statement e.g. balance sheet. You would see export button on top right hand side on button bar. Press it and a screen would pop up with export related options.

The first option is format of data to be exported namely ASCII, HTML, SDF, and XML. Which ever application you are importing this data in would decide in which format you should export the data.
For statements like balance sheets and trial balance which we use to send and import file in word and excel etc. HTML format is good. We need minimum formatting in this format while using it in MS Word and MS Excel.
certain applications accept continuous data where we have defined field length. Then ASCII format is better.
For application which accept SDF and XML format these formats can be chosen.

Give a file name and the exported file is saved in the parent Tally directory on your computer. You can now use that file to import its contents into another program, send it as it is (say if it is HTML file) to a colleague or view it using a browser.

Step 3

Consider exporting day-book.Go to day book press export button or use shot cut key Alt+E. Exporting screen will displayed.

tally-export-screen-300x82.gif

Press Back space on your keyboard. And select Format as ASCII (comma delimited). Now give output File Name as Daybook.csv, now select some other option you want to export from the bottom of the screen.

tally-export-ready-screen-300x81.gif

Press enter to accept screen. Day book is exported in to tally program folder. Check program folder for file daybook.csv,

csv-file.gif

Double click on it, the file will open in excel program. If you want it in excel work sheet file, use the option Saveas, and save it in Microsoft excel workbook (*.xls) format.

Hope this is helpful. Let us know if the issue is resolved.

Dear Sir, In case there are atleast 80 files or more having same format containing datas in columns in each file with different figures, I want to merge all file in a single sheet in one shot. Kindly...

Hi,

If the column names and orders are same across files, then you can directly use the MS Excel's import data function, this will do your job.

Alternatively, if you want to do it manually, import each file in separate excel worksheet using data import wizard or simple copy paste of data (in latter case you have to use Text-to-Col feature of excel), and then manually append all figures (copy-paste in one go) to any external excel sheet.

Then finally, export/save as that external sheet to any filename of your choice.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Your code does not save in access format it just makes a copy of existing file. You need to open table by table and export data using csv format.
It can be done using access OLE to export, or
