3 Answers

My SanDisc 2Gg Cruser is not working "It's DEAD", i have three computers at home one is a laptop all running Windows XP,none of them are reading the scan disc, the light doesn?t turn on and when i go to my computer the drive is no there. I tried to download the driver from it from the www.SanDisk.com and it doesn?t run the download, i'm assuming it's because it won?t even read the drive. PLEASE HELP! All my work from school is on the disc i need to get it back. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with Windows XP, perhaps the updates??? PLEASE Give me a Logical easy to understand explanation.

I have the same problem with a 4GB. I used it all year and stored my school work (I'm a teacher) on it. I can't believe I didn't back anything up. It just stopped working all of a sudden and appears to be dead. San Disk said they will replace it but they don't have any other solutions. I'm really screwed now.

My Cruzer is dead. I need to get the files off. Is there anything I can do to get it off without spending so much money

  • Logic-Al Oct 06, 2008

Yeap, my Cruzer is 'Dead'. It doesn't matter which computer I plug it in. I suspect that it got an over-voltage to the USB on the desktop. The over-voltage fried the internal circuitry in the cruzer. This cruzer has taken it last ride in the computing highway. The question now is whether Sandisk will pay the toll for these substandard drives?

Likely a power or power connection problem.

I squeezed the cruzer's connector for tighter fit to PC and that works. I also found that my laptop coming back from standby might not redeliver power to USB--PC needs restart. Also, if not already tried, plug it into another port on the machine.

Because I had to open cruzer to fix detached socket, I notice socket connection to circuit is not reinforced. If cruzer socket had been bent, there may now ba a defective connection between socket and board.

Hay! my laptop is toshiba satellite A135 s4527 home vista. but i run my laptop with oprating system windows XP2. how it possible. please help me

Hello and welcome to fixya.

In your case, im assuming you refer to the "Vista sticker" that is on the laptop. If a computer is vista-compatible this doesn't mean that it is not able to run older Operating Systems (such as Windows XP SP2) as well.

The sticker on the laptop just referes to the type of Operating System that came pre-installed with it. Now if you bought the laptop and asked your salesman for a DOWNGRADE TO XP Operating System or if this is what he understood then it will probably come with Windows XP instead of Vista Home.

This also applies if you are working for a company in which case the company's IT Department will decide what type of Operating System is to be installed on this computer.

Overall: Newer computers/laptop models that support Windows Vista can also run Windows XP

ALSO: Check for the OEM sticker in the back of the laptop or bottom (it looks like THIS for XP or THIS for windows vista Home Premium). This determines whether you can use a vista DVD to upgrade your computer later from XP to Vista.

If you have any more questions just let me know.

Thanks

Unable to use Wc3301 Gearhead Quick Cam on 64-Bit Windows.

If you have successfully run this cam with a different OS, try running it in Compatibility Mode

Right click on the webcam icon on your desktop or from 'All Programs' - select 'Properties'
Select the Compatibility tab
Select Compatibility Mode
Use the dropbox to show the OS
Click OK
Restart your computer

If you get the error-message when you try to boot your computer, your disk-drive is either:
1. not connected to the motherboard
2. improperly connected to the motherboard
3. dead/dying, so that the Operating System files on the disk-drive *CANNOT* be read.

So, the computer tries to boot from an "alternative" device (either the 3.5-inch device or the CD-ROM device) -- if you don't have any media inserted into either device, you will get the error-message.

USB Port not working

If you are running Windows XP or Vista, here is a "magic fix" that seems to work. (I have NO idea why it works, but it has on many occasions restored the USB ports on three different computers.
Turn off the laptop. Remove the power cord AND the battery. Press the start button and hold for 5 seconds. Replace the battery back into the laptop, and reconnect the power cord if desired, and turn it back on. See if the USB ports work now. Post or comment back with the results.

Vista RAM usage ?

The minimum recommended ram for Vista is 1 GB, generally accepted practical minimum is 2 GB. A 1 GB system will be kinda laggy. Maximum RAM for 32 bit Vista is 4 GB.

Vista Home Premium is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Media Center Edition (Has Media Center, cann't be put on a DOMAIN type network)

Vista Business is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Professional (Can Join a Domain, Doesn't have Media Center)

Vista Ultimate has all available freatures of Vista, you can do any windows function with Ultimate

Hmm,
It seems that you might either have a problem with your hard drive or you might have a huge Trojan that is not allowing you too sign on. If you cannot go to your desktop, you might have to get a new computer, if your finally able, try scanning it with a anti-virus.

Hope this helps,

Inserting SanDisk Cruzer in USB, REBOOTS the Computer instantly

Not sure if this is the problem, but I just found out that in some BIOS menus, there are 3 options for your USB controller...Enable...Disable...No Boot.

If you know how to get to your BIOS, it's worth a shot to make sure it is set to "No Boot" if it is an option.
