The sound on my iPad is not working

If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.

Sidebar has suddenly moved to side affecting size of screen. How do I return it to bottom???

You are probably talking about the windows Task bar that normally resides at the bottom of the screen:
.
Two ways of moving this task ba, to top/bottom/letft/right position of the display:
  1. Move the cursor on a blank/inactive area on the task bar, usually in the largest blank area towards the right, click and hold the right mouse button and drag the Task bar to the bottom of the screen.
  2. Go to the Task Bar 'Properties' (You can get this context menu by clicking the left mouse button after putting the cursor on a blank/inactive area on the task bar) and change the 'Task bar location on screen' option.
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

It was suggested that I find my task bar in order to correct the

probably you just messed up the settings ...if you still can click on start ...just right click near the user name ..and properties will appear..click on it ..and you have the settings choice for both the task bar ..and the start menu ...I really hope you will handle it ..
if not ..just try to make a system restore task ..and assuming that you no longer have the start ..just click on my computer ..than in the side task bar (left ) you will have tasks and other places...there look for control panel ..and click on it ..
be sure the control panel is on the category view..(it has a task in the same left task bar) ..and in the category view click on performance and maintenance ...in this moment you have a second task in the left bar named system restore..click on it ...and follow instructions..choose to restore to an earlier point ...than choose one highlighted date in tha tab ...that you know for sure the computer was fine ...and proceed..If you are lucky and the system was not affected by another kinda virus...and is not a case for reinstallation...your system will restore itself after the reboot to an earlier setting stage ..
