Generic problem for all TDK MP3 and Digital Media Players

The buttons on the top of my TDK icubic no longer do what they are supposed to. For example the power button turns on the alarm, as does the Sleep button. Other buttons now do nothing at all. The remote works fine - but this does not have buttons for everything - e.g. I can no longer set the clock. I've tried powering off etc. but it seems to have been overtaken by aliens. any thoughts?
