Not charging hi my new psp works only with power adaptor it does not charge and fails to turn on battery, Arun

Hi there,
1st : you can check from the power cable charge
2nd : check the adaptor charger if there is a light indicator or not, or you can check with multimeter to check the voltage on charger adaptor, does show the proper voltage for your laptop, you can check at the end of the connection that leads to the laptop.
note : Remember use DC current at Multimeter
3rd : if the adaptor running well, just plug on the adaptor charger to the laptop, dont turn on the laptop power, just see the light indicator with battery / lightning image on laptop, its explained that there is or is not the power current running to the laptop.
3rd.A : if its no power goes to the laptop then your adaptor charger is failed
3rd.B : if is there, there must be a problem with your motherboard, section power / power plugs, why do not want to charge with a new battery.
Conclusion :
- if the problem on number 1 & 2, then you can change the power cord and the adaptor charger.
- if there is problem on the 3rd.B then you can go to the toshiba services center for your problem.

You could try another battery.But if another battery doesn't work,sorry mate I think it's dead.In future make sure you only use what you know is compatible,also NEVER try to run the PSP with the AC adaptor without the battery in.The PSP safety and support booklet states: Do not use the PSP system with the AC Adaptor when the Battery Pack is not inserted in the system.If the AC Adaptor is disconnected suddenly,it may result in damage to the system.

If it is the motherboard that's burnt out I think you can replace it but they're expensive I think,I saw one for a PSP1000 for

check your devce with his adaptor. If it is charging, get a spare adaptor. If it is not, probably the adaptor jack on your device is damaged or got unsoldered.

this i'm afraid is a problem with the psp. to charge the psp off a computer usb mode doesn't need to be entered. so it will charge automatically and if not either the battery or psp charge port are stuffed. try a borrowed battery first then if that doesn't change it trade it in to eb games and get yourself a new one

Confirm the system is not in HOLD mode
Make sure the PSP system is not in Hold Mode (in the down position). Slide the Power/Hold switch up to clear Hold Mode. Or try sliding the Power/Hold switch up and holding it there until the power indicator light turns off and the PSP system is completely turned off. Then try turning the PSP on again.

• Confirm the backlight is ON
  Make sure the LCD screen's backlight is not turned off. If it is, press any button to turn ON the backlight.
  
  
• Confirm use of only licensed products (AC Adaptor, battery pack and charger)
  The AC Adaptor, battery pack and battery charger must be licensed for use with the PSP system. All licensed products for use with the PSP will have the following logos displayed directly on the product and/or the packaging:

Never use a higher voltage than is recommende for sensitive electronics,sounds as if when you used the higher voltage you completely overloaded the battery so it won't hold a charge either way,sounds like you will need a new battery if nothing else is damaged.

Did you charge it first? You need a good initial charge. Depending on the charger, it could be about 6 hours.

Also, remove the battery and check the metal contacts on the top and make sure that they are not covered by anything. Some come with a film to protect them.

ok heres what you do 1. try blowing in the adapter slot 2. take out the mem. card & the battery for 24 hours 3. buy a new psp
