Hi,
Had the same problem, read this answer and tried it.
7 and ext link didn't work immediately so I tried other combos of either 7 with ext link or reset and 8 with ext link or reset. One of them worked but I'm not sure which one - still, that's not too many for you to try. It took a while to take effect (about 10-12 seconds) then the screen blanked then filled with all LEDs, a few at a time and building from dim to bright till the panel was ablaze then settled to the flashing clock. I accessed the menu, set the clock and now, the vcr works perfectly, no problems at all. Brilliant. Never knew that they could be unlocked. When I think of the number I've chucked........

Have a toshiba tp 61H95 proj TV- want to connect panasonic dvd recorder and toshiba vhs recorder so I can copy family videos to dvd- can't get hook ups set up for both to work.

Select AV-1 or some thing in TV and plug DVD recorder Video-Audio output in AV-1 input of TV, playback any DVD and confirm its picture and sound in TV. Press Stop button of DVD recorder to stop playback.
Now plug Video-Audio output of VCR in DVD recorder input and select AV Input in DVD recorder, insert VHS tape in VCR and playback it and confirm you get VHS picture and sound in TV via DVD recorder.
Hookup between TV, DVD recorder and VCR is completed.
Playback VHS tape in VCR, Insert blank DVD disc in DVD recorder and press Record while you see VHS tape picture in TV.
Hope this info will help you.

Magnavox mrv640-accidentally turned on progressive scan

Had exactly the same problem. You need to reset the DVD recorder to it's default setting. The default is "interlaced".

From the users manual.........

Switching the DVD Recorder
1
Disconnect the recorder's power cord.
2 Hold down the FF button (arrow pointing left) the front of the DVD Recorder while
reconnecting the power cord. 'PRO' (progressive scan) will appear
on the display.
3 If you want to switch back, repeat steps 1 and 2 . 'PRO'
(progressive scan) will disappear from the display. The DVD
Recorder is switched to 'Interlaced.'

The manual is at:

http://www.m4c.magnavox.com/files/m/mrv640_17/mrv640_17_dfu_aen.pdf

See page 12

It worked for me.

Panasonic NV-V8000 no apparent power ,fails to switch on

Check all the small size capacitors on the power board (switching ps). There is a small capacitor that will need to be replaced sooner or later. (They dry out with age).

Hi,

Possibly either a tracking problem or the video heads are dirty. Please try a head cleaner which looks like a VHS tape but is meant for removing any dirt on the video head. Most models come with a liquid solution. Tracking normally is automatic nowadays, however, there are some variations and manual tracking (or bt the remote) should correct any jittery images.

If neither of the above is corrective, then your unit would require the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

I have a NV-FJ620 video - CVC is showing on the display screen and the video tape is automatically ejecting itself when I put it in.

One possible explanation is a faulty mode switch (this is a multi contact rotary swith located under the mechanical deck) which needs cleaning probably not a job for the DIY enthusiast
