You are out of black and white ink.
Graphics are printed with the color cartrage
text is printed with the black and white.

    Sorry, thats a laser printer.

You seem to be having an issue with the rendering engine of the software either in the printer or in the computer.

    Try re installing the drivers.

Also check what you are trying to print. sometimes text will be represented in black on your screen and actually be coded as white in the file.

HELP!!! A few days ago I was using my printer and it was doing okay, then all of...

Greetings,

This information is intended for those of you that are getting support from the Fixya.com expert community, for your printer. There are a few things you may wish to consider, prior to posting a request for assistance.

A. It's absolutely vital that you use the correct model number and maker's name for your request. Without that, no expert will be able to access their extensive information pool of techniques.

B. Speak just to the current issue. A reference to how long it's been working, is fine, yet presents little valuable information to an expert seeking to refine their response.

C. There are four major areas that represent nearly 99% of all printer issues. They are:
1. Ink issues. This usually happens when the cartridges are changed. It's vital to do a clean and calibrate, just after installing new cartridges. Try that first, and then a test page.
2. Paper jam issues. Visually inspect the inside of your printer, and focus on little slices of paper(comes from those papers with perforations).
3. Communications errors. Check all the cables for secure connection(they do come out sometimes, for no reason). Also, make sure that you have the most current drivers from the makers website.
4. Actual Print output issues. These are across the board, and without all the first 3 issues resolved, would simply add to your potential problem.

Most of the experts are good at what they do, and are willing to help you out. Help them, Helpya.

And, also, it's part of the experts program here to get constructive feedback from all helpees. Please consider adding your comments to the problems, so that we can all learn more about how to be better experts.

Thank you for your courtesy.

NOt printing text

The problem is the Printhead. The ink has dried up and therefore does not print. If you want to save the printer for  about  $15-20 there is solution that I bought that supposedly unclogges dried up printheads, I have NOT tried it yet, but being in the field it's just a matter of time. E-mail me back in case you have not thrown out the printer yet.

Won's print pdf files

Trouble with the HP Laserjet printed output may be solved by using the following settings (or similarly named ones): "Use raster Graphics" (instead of "Use vector graphics"). This may fix the problem of "reversed" text (white on black background) not printing, as well as other problems. "Download TrueType Fonts as bitmap soft fonts" (select "bitmap" instead of "outline" or "graphics"). This may remove the overlapping of text on the printed document. "Graphics dithering" select "coarse" or "fine" (instead of "none"). This selection may improve the quality of images contained in the document. You can find all these settings in your printer properties. Go to File, Print, click Preferences, in Printing Preferences, click one by one all the top options, and change one of the top solutions, one at the time, checking your printing output. Always check if you have the latest version of Adobe Reader Program. If not download the latest version from Adobe, it's free. Is this the first time that you have the problem? or with the same printer (HP 4si), did you were able to print PDF files in the past?

Before I go into your solution I have to mention a few things first. Your printer software utility has multifunction printing capabilities. What I mean is you can print on thin paper , thick paper , and even glossy paper. I would go into your settings for your printer specifically for pictures or graphics and see what the paper thickness size is set for. Compair this to your setting for normal text printing and change your picture and graphics settings so it matches your text printing. I would also check on your printer some have a flip switch to set the printing head height. If it is selected low this could also cause scratching.
