Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

My Samsung VCR has packed up. I want to replace it later with a DVD Recorder and in the meantime I have been given a Sanyo VHR-VK210A to use until we get our DVD Recorder. The Sanyo has only 2 sets of White and Yellow sockets, our TV has 3, white, yellow and red. Unsure what goes where ? Have no instructions for the remote either, symbols on it are badly worn. Can you assist me please. Hope I have made things clear for you. Thanks, Ken

    Thanks Benimur for keeping me in mind re remote for the Sanyo VCR.
    I have spent time trying to figure the out the keys on the remote and I think I am winning. Have not got an image at present to send, but I am a Senior Citizen (78) and enjoy trying to get things going again, (with a little bit of help.) Not sure what is meant by rate the solutions. Would rate the assistance you have given me as 10 out of 10. Regards, Ken.

Hi Ken,

Initially, the video usually is the yellow, while red and white would be audio.

Your Sanyo VHR-VK210A would two (2) sets of these, one will be for INput (if you want to connect another DVD, a VCR or a tuner) while the other set would be the OUTput which will have to be connected to your TV.

Will post back if I can get my hands on a manual for you to download to help you with the remote.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Additionally, the reason there is no red connector/jack on the Sanyo VHR-VK210A is because it is only MONO. As melnavz has posted, you can connect the white of the Sanyo to the white of the TV. Alternately, you can split the white of the Sanyo using the adapter shown below to have two (2) mono outputs that you can connect to the red and white of your TV.
    Cheers.

    Hi again Ken,

    Glad to be of some assistance and am sure melnavz would also have read your postback. Am still looking for a user's manual for the Sanyo VHR-VK210A that we can figure out the remote keys.

    Cheers.

    P.S.
    Would appreciate if you can rate the solutions posted as you see them fit.

    Ken,

    The only available documentation for a Sanyo VHR-VK210A is a service manual available here (unfortunately, there is a fee).

    Ken,

    In all of my searches for a user manual for the Sanyo VHR-VK210A, that company (getmanual.com) seems to be the only one with any sort of manual/documentation for your unit. Sorry but I'm not privy to their pricing.

    Personally, I am of the opinion that perhaps there is no need to purchase such a manual for a couple of reasons:
    1. as you have posted, you have deciphered some (maybe not all) but still getting along;
    2. the unit is only temporary as it would eventually be replaced by a DVD Recorder;
    3. service manuals are for techs and in-depth repairs. doesn't make sense to me if only to decipher remote control keys.

How do i hookup a sanyo vhr h607 to my television

Unless the VCR has a digital tuner the only way to record off the TV will be to connect it by a scart socket and cable. However to record you would have to watch the TV show you are recording. An alternative is to get a set top box, which are fairly cheap and connect that to the VCR. Some VCR's have two scart sockets one for the TV and a spare one. You can connect the box via the spare one. When setting the recording you will have to select AV2. If the VCR has only one scart socket you might need a scart switching box.

They are actually called RCA connectors.
There should be RCA jacks on the back of your

Connect a dvd-vcr recorder to my tb

you will need an external dvd recorder to record vcr tapes to dvd. Sometimes you will have problems with quality when you do it this way. I have transfered vcr tapes to dvd with a transfer device using the computer and got much better results. If you need the name of the transfer device just get back with me and I will get it for you.

This unit needs new rubber parts. I don't know the particulars of your model, but it has drive belts and/or an idler assembly that needs to be replaced.

Your end of tape sensor is not working. Notice the beginning and end of each tape is clear? That is to allow IR (infared light) which you cannot see with out special stuff, into the area near the left and right of the cassette. Usually they look like a tiny light bulb wit a left and right side. Radio SHack carrys IR detectors cheap.
