Go to the philips site and download the full manual. There's the child lock reset key instructions there too. This link might help.

I have just bought a new remote control for mine from a company on ebay who do copies of remotes which are macine specific, as I have the same problem. It cost me a tenner plus delivery, so I will let you know if this works, as the only way I know of to get rid of this is to use the remote.

Cheers

Update: Success, got the remote through, and although it doesn't have a child lock button noted on it, the one in the middle which looks like it is supposed to change the aspect took off the child lock. This remote is generic to alot of different philips machines, and some of the buttons on it don't do what you expect, but for a tenner it got my DVD player/VCR back up and running, and I can always use the buttons on the front of the machine now at least. I got it off fleabay, though they call it a controller for a DVD721VR.

My child lock is on on my phillips 755vr dvd player how do i turn it off without the remote

Basically, the child lock feature is a security feature to keep the children away from unauthorized video content.
Your best bet is to get an original replacement remote.

You may try this general step to unlock without the Remote. However, it may not work for all the models.
Please hold down the Power button on the Player until "CHILD LOCK" or the "Key symbol" disappears from the front panel display. The Player will be unlocked.

If you had set a code number - the override code should be able to resolve the issue. Please follow the below steps to enter the override code.
1. Press SYSTEM MENU to display the Setup menu.
2. Use the Number buttons to enter the 6-digit number
"210499". The previous password will be cleared.

Hope this helps you in resolving the issue.

Thank You,

How do you unlock child lock on a LG BH100 Blu-Ray Disc Player?

Sorry, to say that the user manual states that the only way to turn on/off the child lock is to use the remote control.

The manual can be accessed using this link and following the on-screen instructions:

http://www.retrevo.com/support/LG-BH100-DVD-Players-manual/id/1074bh627/t/2/

Time to check under the cushions for the remote controller!

I have a GoVideo DVR 4300 that has been child locked. I have lost the remote control. Is there any way to unlock it with out the remote?

According to page 16 of the owner's manual, you cannot disable child lock without the remote. Because you have lost the remote, the unit does not offer a manual way to disable that feature. I am not sure if a universal remote will allow you to enter the setup menu, and turn the child lock OFF. You could try that - it might work.

Or you could try contacting them:

Phone (480) 922-0896 or (800) 736-7679 (during business hours)
E-Mail customersupport@sonicblue.com
Web www.govideo.com or www.sonicblue.com

They may or may not be able to offer further assistance. The universal remote might help, if you cannot get the original replacement for your unit.

Personally, child lock in DVD players is a pointless and unnecessary extra feature that should not exist; it should really only apply to Blu-Ray/DVD recorders.

I can't turn off the child lock .. it came on by itself... the tv is about 5-6 yrs old How do I turn off the child lock please?

hi,

Your best bet is to get an original replacement remote. Use the remote to disable child lock. Also this Philips is actually an LG product so you may find an LG remote is cheaper than any other brand. Might be worth keeping an eye on ebay to see if anyone sells a bare remote control. Have you contacted Philips?

DMR-ES30V remote and DVD panel buttons not responding

I assume you have fixed this by now, but if not, call panasonic's help line (number is in your owner's manual). They will walk you through the complete reset process (maybe 5 minutes). you will have to re-program everything the same as you did when it first came out of the box, but that doesn't take too long. Also, first try taking the batteries out of the remote. Make sure they are still good. Wait 60 seconds or longer, then replace batteries.
