The reason why no operating system was found is possibly the hard disk has been wiped clean. You need to install Windows and the ThinkPad device drivers and any programs you need to get a fully operational laptop.
If you are new to setting up a computer, you need to get assistance from a computer savy friend.

I have a secondhand IBM Thinkpad which is saying 'operating system not found'. How can I install windows onto it?

You will need to get a copy of the recovery disk from IBM, contact IBM, the disk carries the operating system and all the drivers for the laptop. The disk is in most cases about $20.00
Go to the IBM support site on the Internet for ordering info.

Few minitues later after i starting my ibm thinkpad t60 laptop i can not see anything on it display monitor. but operating system and all others things are ok. just i can not able to see display on it...

Ok seems like an issue with the LCD screen . Try these steps :
1. do u hear the windows login sound when you turn on the system ?
2. Check for any lblinking lights on the system. Press the caps lock and num lock and check if it responds.
3. Do u have a Desktop at home ? if yes then you can connect the monitor to the system and check for the display.
4. check for any cracks or any kind of damages. Reseat the battery and then power oN . Check for the light on the AC adapter too.

IF the answer is YES for the above then its a issue with the LCD screen.

IBM ThinkPad X41

Afternoon,

I hope this helps?

To recover the hard disk to it's original contents, do the following:

Note:

1. If the optical drive is not attached to your ThinkPad computer during recovery, DVD software and CD-recording software will not be installed. To ensure that they will be installed correctly, attach your ThinkPad computer to the X4 Dock and install the optical drive in the Ultrabay Slim before performing a recovery ioperation.

2. The recovery process might take up to 2 hours.

Attention: All of the files on the primary hard disk partition (usually drive C) will be lost in the recovry process. However, before any data is overwritten you will be give the opportunity to save one or more files to other media.

Power the computer using the AC adapter and ensure a fully charged battery is installed before proceeding.

1. If possible, save all your files and shutdown your operating system.

2. Turn off the computer for at least 5 secounds.

3. Turn on your computer. Watch the display carefully. While the message. "To inturrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button" is displayed at the lower left of the screen, press the Access IBM button. The Rescue and Recovery workspace opens.

4. Click Restore your system.

5. Click Restore my hard drive to the original factory state and then click Next.

6. Follow the instructions on the screen.

7. When the recovery process finishes, press the Enter key. Your computer will restart with the pre-installed operating system, drive, and software.

My IBM Think Pad T30 showin working on AC with out powering..

If it's not finding the operating system, and you'va ran the recovery cd, then the problem is going to be that the hard drive has failed and will need replaced. In order to double check and make sure it's the hard drive, run the recovery or operating system disc, and reformat the hard drive. If the hard drive will not format, then it's bad.

MY IBM T43 fails to boot

Take out the hard drive and see if the laptop still shuts down. If it doesn't then your hard drive might be the issue. You can also try reseating your memory.
