Hello; This is an older 27 " CRT set that has no vertical sweep. This is likely caused by a bad vertical output IC or cracked solder connections on it. It can also be caused by bad capacitors or other components. Some of these sets have an internal "service switch" to set CRT beam currents. If someone has had the set apart and set the switch in the service position, you will get the one H line. Just put back to normal and pix will be back. John
sounds like you have feild colapse.take off the back and on the ciruit look for the horizontal and when you get it sue a screw driver and a mirror. put the mirror in front of the tv once you locate the horizontal plug the tv back on and look at the mirror and as soon as you turn the horizontal you will see the picture come back up to the correct size, if no good???? take it out and get a new one if you look on the side off the component you must get tthe same for safety, solder the new component in and try again
Check capicitor in vertical hold circuit. You should have solid knowledge of electronics repair before attemping repair. TV's can emmit harmful radiation, and produce voltages up to or in excess of 30kV.
What model are you talking about. Check Horizontal output it may be open. Video output may be bad. Could be many things. Let mt know the make and model and i may be able to point you in the right direction.
yes it can still be fixed! the pop sound you've heard maybe came from a blown capacitor in the vertical deflection circuits. this symptom, sometimes called the tube light effect, it is characterised by a bright thin horizontal line across the middle of the screen. this symptom is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence maybe the trouble maybe in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuits. but if all i have said is not clear to you, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
The set should have a vertical output IC,You need to change it ,maybe you can check the B+ going to it because it might have opened the safety resistor if the IC went bad.You can check for broken board too unless the set is never move from one place.Be carefull when checking voltages ,there is still high voltage, not much but can num your whole hand.
