Computer freezes on start up all I get is the blinking cursor on the upper left corner (looks like the DOS screen) waiting for a command to be entered. I force shutdown pressing and holding the power...

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows is missing - its most critical, core files have been corrupted beyond repair. The only thing you can do is to reinstall using the recovery cd or your own Windows install disk.

I have a dell c521 desktop I bought it from a rental place I do not have a reboot disc I've called dell suport they were no help is there any keyboard configureations to get this rebooted

***Using the Start Menu
  • Press a Windows key (the ones with the Windows symbol on as shown right), this will open up the Start Menu.
  • Use the cursor keys (the ones with arrows on) to highlight 'Turn off Computer' and press Enter to select it
  • A dialog box will open. Use the cursor keys to to highlight 'Shutdown computer', 'Turn off' or whatever your version of Windows says, and press Enter again.

***Using the 'three finger salute'
Hold down Ctrl and Alt, and press Delete.
Windows 2000 and XP Home Edition users will be presented with a dialog box with buttons on:
  • · Use the cursor keys to select the 'Shut Down' button and use Enter to select it.
  • · Select 'Shut down' from the list using the cursor keys and press Enter one more time.

In other versions of Windows the Task Manager will open:
  • · Hold down Alt and press U to open the 'Shut Down' menu.
  • · Use the cursor keys to highlight 'Turn Off' and press Enter.

***Hit Alt F4 'till you can't any more
The final method of shutting down that I will explain here is to hold down the Alt key and press F4 repeatedly. This will close every application that is open on Windows and eventually will close Windows itself. You may be asked if you want to save files by some programs, if so use the cursor keys and Enter to get past these dialog boxes.

Certain keys not working on zboard

remove the plug from the back of the motherboard (Purple)
Check the prongs inside of the male connector for damage and/or dirt.
all of those are TX and RX protocols which talk to your machine and send the events back and fourth.
If that does not work, it is due to water inside the mainboard of the keyboard. replace.

My computer is turning on and off continually

download memtest and burn the iso to a cd and boot from it to test your ram, it usually only takes a few minutes to see if your ram is bad or not, otherwise ive had computers with bad system boards (blown capacitors) that reboot themselves, and also computers that are overheating reboot themselves, check to make sure all air vents aren't blocked and that all of your case fans run well

My friend calls us on skype and after a couple of minutes chatting her computer freezes and her computer shuts down. Can you please suggest what we can do to fix it. When I try to call back the line has...

Normal 0 How much memory do she have installed in your computer? It may need to be, increased, as this is likely to be the cause of your computer freezing, rebooting, times out, or shutting down.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

Desktop screen freezes up when I 'right click' mouse on any ico

This sounds as if there is a problem with Webshots corrupting a specific dll file in the Windows system. I hate to say this, but that usually means a complete reinstall from scratch. I would recommend trying to backup all of the files and reinstall windows.
