I just bought a land rover discovery 1997 and its radio doesnt work its asking for a code which i have, but i dont know how to put the code in the radio? What do i need to do to get it to work? step for step please

Thanks for your help leanburn. But im still having problems because im not even sure if I have the correct code. The land rover dealer I called gave me a 5 digit code and every website ive went to it says its a 4 gigit code. Also it does a beep sound every 5 times you hit a button. And sometimes i get the word "code" to blink on the radio but thats pretty much the only thing i can do to it. Im still pretty lost on the sequence on how to enter the code in the radio. In some radios you only get a certian amount of chances to enter the right code after that it does not accept the code.
