WHDSR209D Washer My washer hasn't been spinning. It's draining fine but not spinning. I cleaned out the little motor for the draining and it was fine. I seem that the big motor is not spinning. I have the machine open and the belt isn't spinning when I turn on the machine. I also noticed that when I turn on the washer, it does have a rubber burn smell to it when it is running. I need help to figure out what is wrong with the machine. Thanks

IMY WASHER STOPPED SPINNING, BUT WAS STILL RUNNING. I WALKED INTO THE ROOM AND SMELLED RUBBER BURNING. I PLAYED WITH THE ON/OFF KNOB, AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO START BACK SPINNING, BUT IT HAS STOPPED AGAIN FOR GOOD. WATER RUNS IN AND DRAINS OUT WITH NO PROBLEM.

If you have a rubber smell that means that the belt is burning through. Several problems can be the case.
1 bearing of the drum ( check if it turns freely if so the bearing is ok)\
2 the belt is worn and need to be replaced.
3 carbon brushes in motor are worn
4 bearing in motor is gone

open the backside of the machine and check belt.
think that is your problem

Ge washer whdsr209d wont engage spin cycle

It is probably the lid switch. you need to look for it, it will be somewhere where the lid meets the top of the machine. When you find it, bypass it. You will just have to be careful after doing this and remember that when you open the lid, it will not stop spinning or what ever cycle it is doing at the time.

My washer won't spin on spin cycle

Hi rapwizz,

I believe your drain pump filter is just clogged. The drain pump is trying to pump the water out before the Spin cycle, but can't. Usually this is caused by a foreign object that is obstructing the impeller. See my tip on how to access, drain & clean the Drain Pump Filter:

ACCESS, DRAIN & CLEAN THE DRAIN PUMP FILTER

After this, the Spin cycle will run, after the drainage procedure. If it does not, then you may need to replace the Drain Motor. Which is a easy task.

Kind Regards :-)

Model 23832 Spin cycle doesn't spin

I believe this is the direct drive model. Your clutch is slipping. There is a quick easy fix available that I have used in the past. Remove cabinet from washer. Make sure you know the easy way to do this... 2 screws on top back of washer and 2 holding control panel. cabinet tips toward from of unit and off. Real easy... Remove wire harness from motor under basket. Remove 3 screws holding motor to basket. Remove agitator inside basket. 1 screw holds it in place. Remove entire motor and shaft from unit. Clutch is attached to shaft on top of motor. Pinch spring to remove clean everything with alcohol. Insert #10 washer between cup and spring to give a little more tension. Replace and viola.... all should work well.

Washer does not remove water in final spin

If washer hums when it should spin, and the washer will not drain, you may have 2 issues.
First check that the drain pump, drain hose, and wall drain are free of debris.
The washer may not spin properly if the drain system is not operable.
Once you are sure the washer drain pump, drain lines, wall drain, and drain hose is okay, run a test wash.
If the washer hums but now drains, you fixed one issue.
If the washer still hums, you may have a bad belt, motor coupler, motor itself, etc...
Check parts for wear and replace as necessary.I pulled the drain impeller and found a sock from my little guy stuck in there. Fixed!
check all water outlets to make sure there is nothing blocking the pipes.

GE Washer won't drain or spin

this is something that you can fix even if your not a technical person . first you have to open the washing machine front panel or back panel , second , follow the DRAIN HOSE to where its connected to a little motor, disconnect the DRAIN HOSE , take the LITTLE MOTOR out and clean it out , it could be clogged.
it happen once and find out the person put the BATH RUG SET
to wash , the rug was so old that pieces of a rubber underneath the rugs clogged the drain , so there was no rinse and no spin.
try it , I hope it helps.
