Question about Hoover SteamVac Carpet/Upholstery Deep Cleaner Vacuum

1 Answer

When I was putting my new rug shampooer together and the directions said to press the trigger and the clean surge button until I heard a snap, I did just that many times and never did hear a snap so I thought it had likely happened and I didn't hear it so I proceeded to fill the solution tank and get busy but no solution came out so I used the clean surge button instead and got the job done (I think). Can I continue to use it that way or is there a way I can get it to snap and use it the way it's meant to be used? Would I still be able to use the stair cleaner adapter without the regular trigger?

I have the same problem, I am following the directions and I cannot get it to snap.

    I've tried several times.

Assembling a steam vac handle part

when the machine comes new the way it is installed is to put the upper handle on the lower handle, install the bolts & nuts (tighten) and then to pull the trigger and press the surge button (if this model has one). you will feel them snap together. the clips on the rods should be at 90 degree's from each other. one will be a u type channel and the other a v type and will connect.

My machine leaked badly BUT it was my own fault. There is a one-time only setup procedure where you squeeze the trigger and push the Clean-Surge button to lock a rod into place. Push the Clean-Surge button VERY HARD. There will be a loud SNAP which sounds like you broke something, but you didn't. I didn't push hard enough initially, all I got was a click which I thought was enough. My machine leaked so I called the help line. They told me to push the button harder, and sure enough, they were right. Until you get that snap, the Clean-Surge (which releases a little extra water-cleaner solution) is on all the time, hence the leaking
