Question about RCA R52WH73 Projection Television

1 Answer

RCA52WH73 color issue

I have a month old, (replaced by RCA for bad tube in original RCA52WH73), RCA52WH73. It appears that the red tube has gone out but I don't know. Everything has a green tint to it and I cannot fix it by adjusting the color. I'm wondering if I there is a way that I can check and see if it is a tube or maybe a fuse somewhere. The set has a convergance option which I have done twice since I noticed the green, to no avail.

It also had the infamous "loud pitched squeal" in the back, when turned on that I no longer hear since the green tint.....

Time to contact RCA again. Either you have been unlucky enough to have a second tube fail or you have had a color driver ic fail. Either way time to contact RCA for another replacement.

Green picture only

The projection TV has 3 guns RED GREEN BLUE. In your case the red and the blue guns are gone. So you are getting the green color screen. You got to replace the picture tube.

17 yr. old 35" RCA loses color intermittently. Picture & sound ok

Three guns Red Blue and Green in the picture tube of an old CRT set. If one of the guns goes out it effects that color. Sounds like one of the guns inside of the tube is going out, To costly to replace for such an old antilog set that will have to have a convertor box next month anyway.

Rca 62" PROJECTION FLATSCREEN - COLOR PROBLEM/FLICKERING SCREEN

Sounds like the red picture tube could be shorting internally which would cause the "all red" condition. In which case you'd have to replace the red tube. Are there horizontal (slightly slanted) lines through the picture as well when this is happening and a very very bright screen? If so it's most likely the tube.

Toshiba colours gone wrong

Yes it is repairable. One of two things is wrong. The color wheel is going bad or the DMD board is going bad. These are the most common repairs needed for a Toshiba. I hope this will help.

Screen Green Tint

Turn down your color and see if the screen has a normal black & white screen. If it doesn't then the CRT is bad (picture tube). If it is black & White then you have a either lost your red or blue. That problem will be in your video driver circuit of which a service center can handle.

Screen colour missing

this problem could be a few things. first if you know how touse a volt metter go to the crt pcb on the end of the picture tube. Try to measer the voltage on the collector of the red drive transistor. If when the red color goes away and the voltage shoots way up past 150 or so volts then the red drive is disapearing from the video jungle ic or through one of the componets from it. If the voltage drops way low like less then 65 to 75 volts or less then theres a cold solder connection between the b+ feed resistor that suppys the b+ to the drive transistor the driver power supply sourse.. In an extremely rare case would the Picture tube be at fault but certainly could be. Good Luck OOps almost forgot it could als be a bad connection on the crt socket as well..
