Hello Monkeyhouse,
I live in a monkey house of my own with two little girls climbing on everything. If your house is like mine the main reason for frost build up is warm moist air entering the freezer. My children love to open the door all the time so I get some frost from that. If you are really getting alot then you may have a crack in your seal around the door. or the door is not sealing completely. To solve the problem you can adjust the door or you can replace the seal. Replacing the seal is really harder than most people would care to tackle. But if you discover a bad spot on the seal this is the best way to replace it. First would be to buy you a seal and start it soaking in hot hot water. This will loosen the rigidity of the seal and help with seating. Once the seal is soft begin removing the old seal. You can do this byraising the inside of the seal and loosening the screws. Do not remove the screws completely just loosen enough to remove and replace a small section at a time. work the new seal around and once you feel it is perfectly centered on all sides tighted the screws. If you still have waves or the door is not sealing you may need to reheat the seal with a hair dryer. Use caution not to burn the seal or overheat the seal.. Over heating will cause it to shrink and it will never work. Good luck to you and please let me know it this helped. [email protected]

Frigidaire problems

Use the link below to view and read the user manual. If this is a used refrigerator it is possible that there may be a problem but it should be minor. The refrigerator section is cooled by air from the freezer. This problem is usually caused be excessive frost but you should not have frost buildup in only 24 hours.
There is also parts lists and diagrams.on the site.
I am also including a link to youtube videos about refrigerator problems.

Hello, actually my Maytag refrigerator is 22 cu ft. bottom -mount freezer. I'm pretty sure my freezer is the frost less kind but it has started getting frost and almost snow in it. I was just wondering...

Hello
Any freezer will accumulate frost on walls etc, eventually.Mostly in the summer when there's more moist air and door openings. The fan is supposed draw all moisture to the evaporator coils so you won[t get the frost , So if it is excessive check to make sure refridgerator compartment is keeping cold.If it seems warm to you,you probably have defrost issues.
If ok ,then check door gaskets for air leaks ,(excess moist air gets in).Or excess food ,especially at bottom might block some air flow.

Freezer is frost free yet it is icing up its a refridgerator

I would recommend that you turn either the freezer down or the fridge. This is somewhat normal, even frost free units will produce some frost, and this is mainly due to the temperature being too cold. Some minor adjustments and you will be fine.

Freezer is cold but refridgerator is warm. older frost free model

Your defrost circuit is probably broken.

Are you getting lots of frost on the bottom of your freezer?

Is there any airflow in the top portion of the fridge? You can test this by blowing a little cigarette smoke into the refrig section to watch the air pattern.

If you have excessive frosting above and no air below....it may be time for either a new heating element or a defrost controller board.

Some older units allow you to just turn on the defrost circuit and see if the heating element has gone bad. You may want to buy the controller first if it fails the forced power on test. Then, if that doesnt do it...you can buy and replace the heating element.

Good luck and be careful.

Freezer in nice and cold but refridgerator is not

due to lots of moisture in the air or high humidity it creates extra frost in the freezing unit this creates blockage in the air flow once the ice crystals build up. the freezer is what keeps the fridge at the normal temperature if the air flow between the two are blocked in the ducting then the fridge temperature will rise the best way to solve this is to open the freezer take out the 4 screws in the back panel tilt the panel forward and blow it with a blow dryer till the ice chunk has melted its a good idea to use a towel and on the top self of the fridge to obsorb excess water this can be kinda messy. or you can unplug your fridge for about 6 or so hours. good luck hope i helped. :)

Fridge not holding tempreture

if there is frost present on the rear vertical wall of the freezer compartment then the defrost function is broken and needs to be repaired the freezer is like an ice block and yo get cooling up to the refridgerator compartment air has to be able to flow and that can't happen if the frost is not eliminated

Bosch classixx refridgerator

the evaporator is probably iced up and hence poor air flow. (i am assuming it is a frost-free type). switch off and leave for 24 hours with door open is the easy cure. otherwise, remove the back inside panel of the freezer and melt off the excess ice with a hairdryer used carefully
