At first glance I would say that the optical drive has suffered a catastrophic failure you need a new one . good deals on ebay and at pour local wally world store

I have an acer aspire 5735 with windows vista home premium. The cd/dvd drawer will no longer open. I can open it using a needle in the little hole however when i put cds in the drawer they will not play...


Try checking in the bios if your cd/dvd is detected there. Try also removing the cd/dvd drive from the laptop and putting back in again. If it still not detected in the bios, have it replaced.

Download the FIXIT tool (icon in middle of page) and run it. Then reboot your computer and Windows will re-detect and install any CD/DVD drive in your system.
If this does not fix it the drive probably needs to be replaced.

Dvd RW Burner stopped working after only having it for a year


Check whether the CD/DVD drive has been detected/recognised in device manager. Also check the device status in device manager. Try to install the latest drivers for CD/DVD drive will solve your problem.

When I put a CD in the DVD drive, it does not read.


1. If the CD/DVD drive tray not open.

Open "My computer" windowsand select the CD drive . "Right click" onthe CD drive.You will get apop up windows with the "Eject" option.

If it open that's means the power supply is ok

2. If the DVD drive is not showing on my computer windows or the DVD is not detect the CD/DVD disk

Tofix the problem we need to delete the UpperFilters andLowerFiltersregistry key for more details about the troubleshootingstep please follow the below link.

3. After follow the above steps if you still face the same problem then need to contact the local hardware vendor.

I can't download music from CDs. What do I do?


1. If the CD/DVD drive tray not open.

Open "My computer" windows and select the CD drive . "Right click" on the CD drive.You will get a pop up windows with the "Eject" option.

If it open that's means the power supply is ok

2. If the DVD drive is not showing on my computer windows or the DVD is not detect the CD/DVD disk.

To fix the problem we need to delete the "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" registry key for more details about the troubleshooting step please follow the below link.

3. If the cd/dvd is detected and you want to know how to copy the file from cd/dvd to the computer.

-Open cd/dvd drive and select those file by mouse what you want to download from cd/dvd to the computer.
-Then right click on the highlighted icon and select copy option.
- After copy those file saved on your computer.

Note:After follow the above steps if you still face the same problem then need to contact the local hardware vendor.

oh my frd...it happens bcoz u could hav burned u r cd in data files format...wch will not detected by the cd player...cd player detects only the mp3 formats...so nxt tym u burn a cd check whether the option wch u given s mp3 format for audio files...and main thing is that check whther u burned a CD or DVD...bcoz CD player will not detect DVD...a DVD player can detect CD whereas CD player cant detect DVD disc my frd!!!!

If you go to control panel/system/hardware/device manager. You can roll back to your previous driver. Unless of course it wasn't working then either. In that case disregard this solution : )

DVD drive recognition


remove your ide cables and power cable and also jumper setting in your dvd drive check it

CD Burner not detected.


Check your different jumper settings in the drive; Is your CD RW drive set in the proper setup as a slave or master drive; or as a single drive.Check in your bios, in the disk management section if your CD RW is detected.
