Contacts disappeared from storage card when phone linked to new PC
I have lost 100's of contacts when I set up the phone through Activesync with a new PC. I have not formatted the card but cannot see the contacts on the storage card or the phone other than the contacts saved on the sim card (about 20%).
Re: Contacts disappeared from storage card when phone...
When you make a new relationship - connection with a PC you should always backup the whole mailbox first.(messages,contacts,calendar...)Because the ActiveSync erases the "old" contacts. So,can u go back to the "old" PC (where the contacts are OK) and try to synchronize your contacts? Make a new connection with Act.Sync.If u want to update or add contacts, its better to do it via your mail client(MS Outlook for example) first and then synchronize your PDA.Good Luck.

Set your phone to sinchronize your contacts with your PC (if not already set), and sync them. Then, start Outook on your PC, go to the Contacts tab, select the contacts you want to see excluded from your phone's internal memory, and delete them (either go to 'Edit > Delete', or 'Ctrl-D', or simply 'Del'). Now, re-synchronize your phone with your PC. I suppose ActiveSync on your phone will automatically delete the contacts you have excluded from Outlook on your PC.
Hope it works for you.
to transfer contacts you will need two things, first you need microsoft outlook that will store your contacts from the phone. Second you will need Activesync 4.5 you can download that program for free from Microsoft.com under the download center. Once installed just plug the phone in and walk through simple set up process and your done. After that Hit sync and the phone will transfer all data to your outlook
You could try removing applications you installed, one by one with a power on reboot in between each removal, to see if an app caused the phone to do this. Start with latest app you added and progress to oldest you installed, trying to see if problem is fixed between each.
To Remove programs, go to Start/Settings/Remove Software.
If this does not work, you can Hard Reset your phone. This will cause original MFG software to reinstall itself. You will lose any apps or data you installed since new.
To Hard Reset, press and hold both left and right soft keys while turning phone on, till the Reset Screen displays.
in settings there is an option to save your contacts,appointments,tasks,..etc there u tick on contacts for permenent storage.when your contacts losses it will auto maticaly sets it... here the path: START--->SETTINGS---->PERMENENT SAVE--->tick on contacts, click on OK
u just search all the folders of ur pc..u might have sync all the contacts to pc by mistake..& if they r nt there & nt in tha mobile too..so there r no chances u can get them back..if haven't take the back up of them.
Check the setting on the ipaq, go to ActiveSync and tools, options, server and make sure calendar, contacts and inbox are not selected here. Then, put the pda in its cradle and let it do a sync, it should change the settings on the desktop and the (sync status on device) should disappear. I had a similar problem and after de-selecting these, everything worked fine.
