What settings in the bios with maxtor as slve and quantom fireball as master

There are no settings in the BIOS for setting up master ans slave drives.
The hard drives have jumpers for configuring master and Slave drives.
If your hard drives are IDE/PATA hard drives and you intend to install these drives on the same IDE cable then you can set the jumper on Quantum drive as Master and the Maxtor on Slave.
I suggest that you install the Quantum as master on the 1st IDE cable and the Maxtor as Master on the 2nd IDE cable for maximum data transfer rate between the two hard drived.
Any other devices that are connected to these IDE cables will need to be jumpered as Slave devices.

Have rs480m motherboard need the 2pin sequence to hook up the hard drive ''e-machine t6520''

I assume you are looking to connect another hard drive in your computer.
Most desktop computers have two IDE controllers.
The 1st controller will have the "C" drive set to Master (MA) and there maybe another drive CD or DVD drive on the same IDE cable, if so the drive will be set to Slave (SL) or if you intend to install a drive on this cable.
The 2nd. IDE controller and cable can have hard drive or CD/DVD drives too but the drives must be set to either Master or Slave - BOTH drives in the one cable CANNOT be set the same.

Most CD/DVD drives have a label showing the jumper setting for Master (MA), Slave (SL)and Cable Select (CS).
You only need a single jumper and it is inserted in a vertical position.
There are a group of 6 pins (3 columns of 2 pins) next to the 40 pin IDE connector.
The Slave setting is usually the middle set of pins.

How do you pin a maxtor 40 gig hard drive? I want toi jumper it so it runs continuus withe the 40 gig hard drive I have with a operating system or how do I have two operating systems in the same computer I...

If you are using the older style hard drive, the main drive will be the master and the other the slave. The master has the pin up and down in the middle position and the slave should be the second to the last on the right when looking at it from the back. There should also be a diagram on the top of it. Double check me though, just going by memory. I know you are aware but.....make sure the computer is off and don't forget to plug in the power plug. The computer should "find" it on boot up and give it a name, probably D or E.

Adding old hard disk. 20 GB Quantum Fireball Ict, in Dell 9200 PC

if it's old it's probably IDE also known as PATA. it looks like a wide ribbon. There should be a header on the motherboard that looks exactly like the plug on the back of the hard drive. It will be labeled IDE1 probably if you have it. Old motherboards used to have 2 IDE headers, modern ones have one or none. The ribbon will have three plugs--one for the mobo, and then two spaced closer together for the master and the slave. You need to hook it to the appropriate plug (master if it's the only device on the ribbon) and make sure the jumpers on the HD are set properly to make it self-identify as the master. Good luck!

The jumpers are not labeled on hard drive

If the sticker is not on the top showing where the jumper pin goes, you can do an online search for the make and model of the hard drive. A "new" hard drive usually comes with a booklet giving you specs on it. Otherwise, it will be a process of elimination of moving the jumper from one set of pins to next until your computer recognizes it as a slave. This will require shutting down and unplugging your computer, moving the pin, and restarting. Hope this helps you.

N256 40 gig hdd jumper settings - Model 5T040H4

It often depends what OS you are using. Linux i.e doesn't go well with cable select and I had to just play around with the jumpoer settings t get this drive to work. It is an old drive (~2000/2001), so it's slow and loud. I could not find any information on the Seagate nor Maxtor web sites. So try this;

The jumpers look like this:
: : : . :

If you bridge the most left pair, it is set to master.
If you bridge the second left pair, it is set to cable select.
No jumpers: set to slave.

"Cable select" only works if the IDE cable supports this setting. If you want to play around with it, look here.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.
