Three problems could exist here.
1 the disc has not been finalised
2 the disc may have not been properly formatted to play in a dvd player ( use disc authoring program like DVD Shrink etc)
3 the DVD burner may be on its way out.
The only verification is to try the disc in a friends DVD player (different make/model of course)
I would assume you are burning them "code free" of course, if not there will be a region code on the back of your DVD player. (square with a number from 1 to 6 in it)
It was burned with DVD shrink and it was code free. It does work on different players. It does play a burned dvd that is R. This disk is -R will that make a difference?
I believe that it does. check what discs your machine will support, I understand that the burner will be happy with all of them, just your player is critical
How do I check that?
you will need to refer to your owners handbook. it will be in there under discs it will support (usually toward the front of the book)
Well thats a bummer! I got it at a yard sell!!! Maybe there will be something online! Thanks for your help!
Hi, I have just downloaded a user manual for your device. assuming your model is a go video Vr3930 dvd/vcr combo. the manual states it can handle both DVD+R & DVD-R disc types.
In addition the the region code stated for this appliance is zone1 which indicates you are most likely in America.
As you already stated, you have tried a DVD-R disc so go ahead & try a DVD+R disc & see how you get on. dont forget to try different branded discs too. some machines have issues with burnt discs because the writable discs tend to have a less reflective coating than the commerically produced discs.
PS dont forget to post feedback
Cheers
