Question about Insignia IS-LCDTV32 32 in. Television

1 Answer

No sound Hi and thanks for taking my question. I bought this TV approximately a year ago and it has performed beautifully, until today. I have no sound. The picture is fine but no sound at all, not even with headphones. I also noticed the Insignia sign on the front that turns from red to blue when the TV is turned on is out. Any thoughts? Thanks! Michelle

I would be naturally curious of the no sound symptom but the no blue light makes this puzzle even more of a challenge.
This unit has some VERY poor power supplies in them, in particular three caps E919,E920 & E921 (680uf/35v) usually fail causing a complete dead condition. But there are also a total of 16 caps in various areas of the supply handling low voltage sources for various other areas of the TV and it would be my suspicion that one or more of those has failed and you might not be too far from a complete failure of the supply when the main three 680uf caps finally short. At least I'd start there...
One other thing has me suspecting the supply. Both the blue light and the audio circuit depend of the +12v source. It's the first area of the supply I'd begin with in a trace.
Hope this helps.

Bought it a week ago today. now it mysteriiously

It sounds like it may have an bad solder connection in the power supply. Or It may have bad componets in the power supply. I would even try to take the battery's out of the remote just in case it is cause it to turn on/off.
