It probably will support. It most likely gives this message because the refresh rate is too high when it switches to that resolution. An LCD monitor runs best at 60Hz. I'm currently on a mac so I can't recall clearly the PC steps, but I believe you can right click on the desktop to get a menu. Click on Properties. Then click on the settings tab. In there you will see an advance button. Then a new window will open with more tabs. In there I think the refresh rate is in there maybe in the monitor tab. This will although, probably only change the resolution you're on. But if you have an extended driver support for your model, you may also have a list somewhere of the Refresh Rate Hz for different resolutions with out having to change the res in order to change the Hz rate. ALSO - in game settings or menu options somewhere of the game, there might be a Refresh Hz Rate somewhere. Confusing enough?? :-)  I know you'll figure it out, I only hope this helps a bit. - Scotty

60Hz is what it should be set at for all Resolutions of an LCD. My feeling is that when the game switches to 640x480 res. it changes to a higher Refresh Rate (Hz) at that mode. It would up the Hz in order to minimize flicker at lower resolution for a CRT monitor, but LCD monitors don't naturally flicker due to the nature of the liquid crystal - normally a good thing. Keep me posted - Scotty,

This is a low-end monitor and the image processor is failing. You will require a replacement but since the monitor is low-cost, it is cheaper to simply by a new one.

Is there an installation CD with this monitor? I'm giving it to a friend, but don't remember what all came in the box when I bought it 3 years ago.

Well, these monitors do not require any sort of installation software. hence, you need not worry about the CD. The box would have probably included the monitor, its stand, power cord.

Rate it, if it helps.

Certain versions of the Acer AL1715 monitor had a problem with the VGA socket. Specifically, the plastic case around the socket was not wide enough. The plastic interfered with the plug and so the plug did not seat properly. I fixed several of these monitors by shaving off some of the plastic with a dremel mototool. A hand file would probably work as well. You have to remove the plastic back to do the job.
