Hi,

The CMOS/BIOS battery has died and needs replacing.

The battery is located on the motherboard inside the case of the computer.

To replace the battery you'll have to open the case up and replace the battery. It looks like this >>>

Once you have replaced this battery and restarted your computer you will need to access the BIOS to set the date, time and also tell the computers BIOS that the floppy drive is not there and to set the boot order of the computer.

Once you have done all this you should not get that message again for a good few years.

Regards.

Press F2 to enter the system setup. Someone or something (Bad Motherboard battery most likely) has reset the BIOS defaults, which includes the Floppy diskette drive controller to be ON. Set Diskette Drive to NONE, then under integrated Devices, set diskette controller to off, save settings and reboot
(ALT + B)

if issue re-occurs then the watch battery on motherboard is bad and needs to be replaced

I used PC Relocator to transfer items on my old computer to a new computer. It worked great for files and settings, but didn't transfer programs. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Most programs such as this ONLY copy/transfer the files and setting. It doesn't "Do" the programs, you have to back those up, some other way. Usually however "Programs" are to be re-installed anew, on the "New" PC, as generally the "New" PC is different to the "Old" and maybe the "Old" settings would not "Run" on the new system.

If i restore my insp. 2200 to factory settings what exactly will be on it/

Your computer gonna be reformatted like it was when it was new. you get a new installed computer. all programs that you have installed gonna be gone. your computer gonna be as new.
if you run restore remember to save your data to a external media as usb disk or networkdevice because all information you have on your computer gonna get lost.
Also you need to reinstall all programs like office, firefox skype or other program you want installed.
The advantages with restore is that you computer becomes as it was when you bought it = faster then today.. remember to install all windows updates before you begins to install any other programs.
Hope I maid it clear for you what happends :) Good luck..

Need to know how to transfer programs and files from old to new PC

There are three sets of items that you need to transfer.
It would be best to use an external USB drive and keep the data on the drive as a backup.

1. Settings (Internet favorites, desktop settings, cookies, address book, etc.)
2. Data (My Documents, and multimedia content)
3. Programs

It would be easy if the old computer was also a Dell; however, you can't simply "copy" to the new computer.

#1. Settings: There is a built-in utility called "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard". [Start] [All Programs] [Accessories] [System Tools] [Files and Settings Transfer Wizard]

#2. The transfer wizard has an option to copy "settings only", "Data Only", Settings and Data". Transfer only the settings and then transfer the data. It will go much smoother.

#3. Some programs are already on your new computer; however, unless the old computer was also a Dell, you will have to re-install most or all of your programs like MS Office, Printers, Scanners, Camera and Video applications, etc.

If you need more detail, please post a comment... Thanks .

Installing palm on new computer

There is no way to download from a PALM. The only option is to syncronize or sync different programs. You will need to install the original program that created the database for the palm, and then set that program to sync to to PALM.
