Red vertical lines - Projection Televisions

Posted by on

  • Bill Crunk Aug 16, 2008

My problem appeared identical. Red lines from top to bottom about an inch apart across the entire screen of my JVC AV-48WP30. I ordered the $70.00 kit online and replaced the two ICs and twelve resistors on the convergence board and it is still exactly the same.
Anyone care to toss a few suggestions at this old goat?

    Thanks, Bill

Red verticle lines are most likely a bad tube or convergence problem. You will not be able to fix this your self . I suspect a bad convergence ic cost for parts are around 45.00 servicer charge about 250 to fix. At least know when you call a servicer you will have
a good understanding of problem.good luck.

How to set convergence on Projection TV ' s

I have given an general explanation on most projection TV ' s

  1. Enter the menu on your TV. Use the remote control and bring up the menu.
  2. Choose "Convergence." This may be under "Picture Settings," "Function" or "Advanced Options."
  3. Select a color. You will have red, green and blue to choose from. Do each one, starting with red.
  4. Press "Enter." A crosshair pattern will appear on your screen.
  5. Adjust vertically. If there is a horizontal red line visible, press the up or down arrow keys (or channel up or down) to adjust the convergence until the line is superimposed on the horizontal-center line of the white crosshair.
  6. Adjust horizontally. If there is a vertical red line visible, press left or right (or volume up or down) to adjust horizontally. Do this until the line is superimposed on the vertical line of the white crosshair.
  7. Save settings. It is important to save your settings when you are done, instead of simply exiting the menu.
  8. Repeat these steps for all colors.

Screen has red vertical line

This is rare in a newer TV. You prob have an open winding on red yoke, or the problem may be in the convergence circuit. Check for open connections, check for crt burn. Vertical? up and down line??

Please give more info. Sorry I was not more helpful.
