I have a Lucent 103G7 phone management system, How do I configure it? I figure through the com port on my pc but what are the settings for hyperterminal?

Need to change the main greeting on our lucent/partner system?

You need to press 0 at the voicemail login prompt. If you dont have a button programmed you can dial Intercom-7-7-7. If the system is configured properly you will get the login prompt. You can then dial 0# for the admin login. The default password is 1234#

Sounds like the storm also took out the port in the phone system. try plugging in a standard telephone to the port and see if it works. if it doesn't them move the gate phone to a new port and try it.

This is all programmed in the phone system settings. Your phone can be used on different Avaya phone systems (AT&T, Lucent is Avaya now) and you can also have different voice mail systems. They all program differently.

Sounds like your phone port is not programmed to use voice mail. You can have your phone port programmed to do many different things if nobody answers. Mostly you have the call transfered to another station after so many rings. That other station (extension) could be the operator, a calling group, a voice mail box, etc... Some systems allow you to change the number of rings on a per-phone basis, others only have one no-answer timer for all calls.

You can get all the manuals from for free but you need to know which system and version you have first. Programming can get very complicated and you may find it easier to hire a local phone installation company that is familiar with your system to do the changes for you.

Are you trying to change if it rings or how it sounds when it rings?

The phone you have (Partner 18D) can be used on several different Avaya phone systems that all program differently. To change when it rings, this would need to done in the system programming (not the phone) All the manuals are avaialble on Avaya's web site but you need to know which system you have before you can start searching.

Console Problem

When you switch phones the system does not know this. All programming is stored in the system, not the phones. If you swap phones of the same model nothing should change. If you put a phone in with different button configurations then things very well may change.

It's not an easy fix. The phone system would need to be re-programmed for that phone port.
