Sounds like the problem started out with an intermittent solder connection possibly on the deflection PWB unless the power relay has a bad connection or is breaking down under load. If it is not the power relay, I would check the connections under the deflection board - paying close attention to the area from T701 and T752 including the Horizontal output Transistor for a short. You also have a possibility of defective filter capacitors causing the problem as well.
yes u have a lot loose connection on the deflection board , u need to solder the flyback , power supply and vertical , and all around this component , also u can hire a tv tech and do this job probably $200
Before going too deep into repairs, check to see if the Lamp is bad. If it is, the part # is UX21511.
I would estimate the cost of the lamp to be about 200.00 but the price could vary. Hitachi's Customer Service phone number is 1800-HITACHI.
I hope this helps,
More than likely it is a convergence problem. Best way to tell is to unplug the plugs marked red conv, blue conv, and green conv. Careful not to unplug yoke plugs by mistake, and make sure you mark plug and board when disconnecting. If convergence amps are the problem, set should power up with convergence plugs disconnected. Do not leave set playing very long. This is just to verify problem. Your welcome, Russmann.
I posted this some time ago, but it is useful to your problem so here it goes:
It sounds like you convergence amplifiers are about to malfunction. If possible can you post a picture of what is happening. Again by the description you gave it sounds like the convergence amplifiers.
If you go to a shop the cost will about $400 - $500 (includes parts and labor).
If you do it yourself the cost will be about $25.00 - $50.00 (includes parts labor is free)
If you choose to do this yourself, here are the basic instructions:
1. Unplug the TV set
2. Take the rear bottom panel off
3. look for a large heat sink
with two large black ICs (STK392-110) (6 sided components but
rectangular in shape) on it, and remove the board the ICs are on from
the TV set.
4. Unsolder the components using a soldering iron and a suction solder remover.
5. disconnect the components (ICs) from the heat sink
6. Unsolder all of the bias resistors and replace them with the proper values (usually 220, 150, 3.3, 2.2, and 3.9 ohms)
7. install the new ICs (STK392-110)
8. solder all connections IC and bias resistors
9. Inspect for shorts
10. reinstall circuit board
11. Plug the TV set in and turn it on.
Good Day, Simone43;
That is a nice TV, but to know if it's worth repairing is hard to tell from my position. I would recommend that you call an Authorized Service Center and have give an estimate for the repairs..........Good Luck, big IRISH.
Sounds like the TV's convergence circuit has failed:
*Call an Authorized Service Center and them give you an estimate cost of the repair, or
*Repair it your self; get KIT 10 locally or B&D Enterprises
Good luck, big IRISH.
Good Day, hazzletp;
You may have a bad comb filter or one of the CRT's (picture tubes)(cathod ray tube), are going bad. Call an Authorized Service Center and have them come to your home and give you a written estimate b4 repair. Cost AVG $550.00, if CRT is bad go shopping.
Good Luck, big IRISH.
Good Day, bostonsuxs;
Like every else in the world you have a convergence problem.
It is not an easy repair so I would suggest that you call an Authorized Service Center and have them give a written estimate, first. If you want to repair your self get KIT 10 from B&D ENTERPRISES AT 1-800-458-6053 or www. bdent.com.
Good Luck, big IRISH.... PS try texas.
Usually this occurs when the Convergence ICs go bad along with some chemical fuses mounted on the deflection board. E994 usually blows along with the Horizontal out transistor going bad. This transistor, I believe is Q777 that usually goes bad. The fuses are either tiny little yellow fuse with a red band or green with a yellow band depending on your model number
