Question about Philips 43PP9202 43" Rear Projection Television

Tv comes on and shutts off immediately

I had a tv repaor guy come buy and look at my set and I told him what was happening. My blue was out of wack and like every other day the tv comes on and shutts right back off. Today he took out the STK392-120 ic's. So then he still tries to turn the set on. Will they work without the ic's? If so what wrong with my tv?

Well no, it won't exactly work with out the ICS which is an internal control relay card. He most likely was thinking it was a power distribution problem. My suggestion is to look at the power supply and make sure nothing is bridging any of the circuitry. Just like a computer the on and off button is attached to a set of pins, and just like computer motherboards the controls also exist for a reset. And if anything bridges these pins turning on the unit will just cause it to shut down again. Also look for water damage and heating damage that might have caused problems with the power supply unit.

i have the same tv and the same problem. 1 year after buying the tv i got this problem fixed by a service rep. he told me it had something to do with the power (transformer.. i think). i got if fixed but he said it would have been a $300 problem if i didn't have a warranty. now i have the same problem again but the tv is too old to spend the money on to fix. Normally it happens when viewing light color or blue colors but not always the same. it always happens on my direct tv menu which is blue. hope this helps.

Bottom right side of screen (about 4 inches high) has blue tint

I had the same problem with my 4 yr old Sony KDF60WF655 rear projection set, and I was fortunate to buy a 4 year extended warranty - because it was the "Optic Block", ($1300. -not incl labor), that was replaced to fix the problem. That part contains all new LCDs, & multiple Lens & some electronics. I had already got a new bulb (under warranty) a few weeks earlier, that I had not yet installed so the service guy did replace that as well. (This happened 3 weeks before my warranty ended).

He told me that he replaces hundreds of Sony Optic Blocks every year and that many Sony Rear Projection sets have automatic FACTORY extended warranties (up to 10 years), because of some known problems with the blue LCD panels. You might want to contact a SONY office & see if your set is covered.

ALSO - The tech checked my Service Codes & showed me the TV had been running for 10051 hours in about 4 years - on the Original bulb! He was quite surprised because he said the bulbs usually last about 5000 - 7000 hours. He also said it's good to replace them BEFORE they go bad, because they can sometimes burn out the amplifier that powers the bulb, (which is a seperate piece that attaches to the outside of the Optic Block). My TV is like new now.

Tv comes on and shutts off immediately

Did you change any of the 6.8 ohm 1watt resistors with the ICs? That chassis always blows at least two of the 6.8 ohm resistors often four of the 6.8 ohm. And you cant always tell by looking at the resistors , they have to have one side unsoderd and lifted from circuit. There are 11 of them 3149 - 3160 are the 6.8 ohm resistors that need to be checked.

he was checking to see if the set stayed on with the ICs out if it did the ICs are shorted. Its easier to unplug the convergence yokes and try it but some techs do it differently

Power light doesn't shut off.

You're right. It's not only a led problem. Efective. the tv doesn't shutt off due to defective relay S901 in primary power supply. It's a 5 volts ordinary relay, replace it and it'll be fine.
