Dell 1815dn says "no paper add paper" even when paper tray is full. I tried different types of paper and still no fix. I had the problem before and tilted the machine backward. It then worked. This time that does not help.

Just had the same problem with a Word doc. So I printed a PDF instead and it seemed to dislodge the printer - because I was able to print a Word doc after the PDF. Cheating the system, but whatever works, right?

I have the same problem, it happens whenever I print a specific MS Word document. Rebooting clears it, but try to print the document again, and bam, same problem. Other word documents print fine.

I just had the same problem. First, I went to maintenance and cleared out the settings. Then I powered off the machine, waited for 10 seconds and turned it back on and the problem was solved.

It says paper tray is empty when it is not and so it won't feed the paper through.

It is probably asking for paper in the manual feeder. Open that door and insert a peice of paper to see if that will help.

Keep getting a paper jam error for front tray, but no paper jam

This can be from a very small speck of paper , dust or a failed sensor and sometimes a worn paper tray.

If you open the printer and they use a vacuum hose and a brush to clean then it should get any shards or dust that can cause this.

A failed sensor requires replacement.

Paper tray should shows signs of wear or fit very sloppy etc. It also would need to be replaced.

I would bet on the dust or paper being the problem.

Doesn't feed paper from the tray

Take the tray out and clean the rubber paper grabbers with alcohol. If this does not work they the paper pickup assembly will have to be replaced.

Hi My Dell Laser 1815 is having a paper jam problem each time it tries to load the paper from the tray.

The paper tray itself is probably missing a small peice. Look towards the front of the tray... there is a guide (about 2" wide) that, if you push down, it springs back and forth. My tray was missing a small peice of flat metal that popped off. The feed roller rests on this piece when the tray is loaded. If the piece is missing, then the roller is to close and the paper cannot make it through into the printer. Still looking for the part number....

Dell 1815 All in One Printer Says No Paper When Paper is Full

Most likely the printer is asking for paper in the Manual Printer Feeder (not the tray). Try put paper in the MPF.

Can I print only from tray 1

You should be able to change settings for paper size and default tray from the control panel or in the printer properties folder on your pc.

Paper jam ,no paper jam found Dell 1815dn

give this a try

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.
