Question about Televison & Video
Screen doesn't work. It goes on and all you can hear is sound, no image. Apparently the Timer/Stand by light is flashing every second or so. It represents some kind of failure but I dont remember which one.
Any ideas of what it is?
Would it cost me more to repair it than to buy a new one? (how much would it be, more or less?)
Check the screen in a totally dark room.
If you see no sign of flashing or illumination from the screen, it is likely that the high voltage section has failed.
Worse yet, if the CRT filiment has failed, the Trinitron tube is quite costly and I don't think anyone is rebuilding them any more.
In either case, parts and labor will probably total more than the replacement cost unless you have a friend who will do the diagnosis and repair for you.
Along with your set, my whole profession is obsolete!
