There is frost on the inside of the back of the freezer. The refrigerator side warms to about 45 or 50 degrees.

I have the same problem as well, except that the model number of my fridge is 106.56536400. The freezer is working fine but the fridge is not cold at all. What can be the problem?

Freezer cold.fridge warm. I'm closer....Took panels out of the inside of the freezer. The coil was froze up, ice accumulated in the small port that feeds cold air into the fridge side. I used a blowdryer and defrosted the coil.Got the fridge to 40 for 4 or 5 days. Doing it again. There seems to be a problem in the defrosting mode, maybe the defrost element which is located under the coil that is froze up. I think its either a temperature sensor or the element. I know just enought to be dangerous. Need model #s of the parts that I need to replace. Help.

The refrigerater gets it's cooling form the freezer.
The channel that the cold air gets over to the frige side is frozen up. Try unpluging for 12 hours.

This thaws out the channel. Ours does this once a month.

Hi,
This model is an older unit, so when you stated frost how much? Is the fan running in the freezer? If you have a-lot of frost in the freezer you could have a defrost problem. Most common in the unit was the heater would fail to work over time. There is 3 different components that control this function, defrost timer, defrost heaters and defrost terminator. All three have a purpose and a job, they depend on each other to complete this cycle.
Here is a link on GE and Defrost System
I hope this helps you, If you need time to complete this or what for parts, you can defrost the unit, and it can take up to 3 - 5 days to re-occur, yes the unit will do this again unit repaired correctly.
Good Luck

Fridge warm. Freezer frosting over. I've

Hi

Check the back wall or floor of the freezer section for frost. Check the freezer ( evaporator) fan to see if it is running. Check the condenser coils under the unit for blockage from dust. Check the condenser fan (under the unit) to see if it is running.
If you have frost in the freezer there is a problem with the defrost system and the freezer will start to warm eventually as well as the fresh food section. If that is the problem you can check the defrost terminator, defrost heater/s, and the defrost timer or adaptive defrost control If used on your unit or the main control board if so equipped. These things usually require dismantling the freezer and other areas of the refrigerator to be checked.

There can be many factors for the no cooling factor: the condenser coils could be blocked with dust, the condenser fan could be bad or stuck, the freezer fan could be stuck or bed, the freezer coils could be blocked with frost because the self-defrost system is not working or the compressor is not running because of a bad relay etc.

My bottom freezer is icing up How do I fix it?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting fixya.com.

You are having a defrost problem.Check the condenser under the refrigerator is clogged with lint. Make sure that the condenser fan underneath the fridge is running properly. You can get to it through the back. Check the coils on the rear of the refrigerator and make sure they are clean and dust free. Also check the back wall or floor of the freezer section for frost. Check the evaporator fan to see if it is running. Check the condenser coils under the unit for blockage from dust. Check the condenser fan under the unit to see if it is running. If you have frost in the freezer there is a problem with the defrost system and the freezer will start to warm eventually as well as the fresh food section. If that is the problem you can check the defrost thermostat, defrost heater/s, and the defrost timer or adaptive defrost control If used on your unit or the main control board if so equipped. Also check the freezer to ensure it isn't over loaded with food stuff, reason being air must flow freely threw out the entire refrigerator in order for the thermostat to work correctly.

Defrost the freezer by disconnecting the power to the refrigerator and letting it sit for at least 24 hours with both the doors open to allow the frost to melt completely but it will build up again in 1-2 weeks and start the warming up again.

Freezer working fridge not working

Check to see if the evaporater fan in the freezer is running. Check if frost on back wall of freezer from bottom to about 3/4 way up. If frost then you have a defrost problem. If fan is not running check for opstruction (ice) blocking fan or motor. If frosted will be either defrost timer, thermostat, or heater.

My freezer is freezing but frig isn't cooling

Usually when this happens it is because of a problem with the fan that moves cold air from the freezer section of your unit to the refrigerator section. Either the fan has gone bad or the unit has frosted up to the point of stopping the fan. Try defrosting (unplugging) the unit over night and then check it to see if the fan runs. If not then replace the fan. If it runs and then stops after awhile like days or even a few weeks, then you may need a defrost timer.
I hope that this helps you to solve your problem.

Kenmore 596.72289200 Freezer fine, but refrigerator not coolin

you must not be getting any air flow into the refr section. make sure the fan is running and if so then you may have a defrost problem. look at the freezer section rear panel, if it has heavy frost on it then it is not defrosting properly. there are a few problems that could cause a defrost issue. defrost heater, thermostat, or timer/control board. most likely the defrost thermostat.
if it is frosted over, then shut off the unit and get ready to catch the extra water that will run onto the floor, after a full day turn it back on and if it cools, you will know that you are not defrosting. it will work ok until it frosts over again, in about 2 weeks. then you will need to find out which part is bad causing the no defrost.

GE (Mode TBX21ZLG) Frige has water collecting in bottom

if there is definite frost which has some depth to it, you may have a bad defrost timer. look for the timer usually inside kick plate in the front of unit. it'where you clean the condenser coils. with a flat head screwdriver or your finger turn the knob until the unit shuts off. if the fridge doesn't come on in 1/2 hour you have a bad timer motor and buy a defrost timer. if the unit comes on in 20 minutes or so the timer is good and you have to look elseware possibly the condenser coils and fan which are near the bottom clean coils anyway because it's good practice to keep them clean to save energy. the fan either works or it doesn't make sure refridgerator is running to check this. anything else you have to defrost the evaporater in the back wall of freezerthis could take some time but after it's defrosted turn timer to off a see if the heater is red in color if not then with a multi meter with the unit unplugged test across heater for continuity on heater . klixon and hi-temp cut out. good luck. if you are not feeling safe call a repairman
