Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Photo printing When attempting to print photo quality, including having adjusted printer to the high quality print and photo paper, I still get a blobby image with line marks. The hi-gloss paper is supposed to be compatible. Is there something I've not done correctly? The instore presentation showed that this is possible! Kathleen

If the printed output smears with a light touch, you may be printing on the wrong side of the paper. There is some photo quality paper that can be printed on both sides (it will say on the box if so), but most photo paper can only be printed on one side. Check the directions that came with the paper.

I cannot get an E-size plot to print properly. I have no trouble with plotting D-size drawings. What are the correct settings to use to print E-size sheets?

Printing high quality photos using an inkjet printer is not only possible, but affordable too. Top notch quality relies on a few factors: the right paper, the right ink and the right settings. Read on to find out how to print photos with an inkjet printer.

1.Use a good digital camera. For 4x6 and 8x10 prints, you will want a camera with at least two or three megapixels.

2.Buy photo paper. Spend the extra few dollars to get high-gloss photo paper that is designed for your printer.

3.Use photo ink. High quality photos take high quality ink. Do not use the same ink that you use for documents.

4.Optimize your settings. Select "File > Print" then click "Properties" and find the preferences or quality tab. Set the quality to the highest or choose a photo preset.

5.Edit photos on your computer. Import your photos from a CD or your digital camera. See your camera's manual to find out how.

6.Crop and resize. Cut out anything extra in the background that you do not want and resize the picture so it will fit on the page.

Hi

Basics first (which you may have already considered).

Explore the Canon Printer software settings.

You need to adjust the Printing Preferences when switching from paper printing to photo paper printing.

Also look at the Print quality and colour saturation settings and try to print in Fine or High Quality when printing on photo paper

If none of the solve the problem, check if something is not stuck in the paper input tray and pressing the photo paper to close agasinst the scanner.

Make sure the paper is properly centered and cradled with the addjusble paper guide on the In Tray.

If tall new none of this works, install new cartridges and conduct Nozzle Check and Print Head Cleaning maintenance and then test print again.

I hope this helps.

Hi. my photo printing results is not so good on normal paper. plz tell me vat is the problem. i want to print photo in best resolution on ordinary paper.i.e (Double A paper)

Printing photos on ordinary paper do not come out well because the ink soaks into the paper like a blotter. I suggest you use semi-gloss or high gloss photo paper for best photo quality prints..

The printer works OK but it prints two lines clearly but every third is feint almost half the writing is ommitted

Set the print quality to normal or best.
Clean the printhead
Run a calibration.
The Kodak EasyShare AiO performs a calibration every time you install or replace a printhead. However, you can run a calibration if you are seeing changes in the image quality. Calibration aligns the printheads and performs a nozzle health check to enable high-quality prints.
1 Load the main tray or photo tray with photo paper.
IMPORTANT: If you don't have any photo paper, you can use plain paper, but photo paper is highly recommended for calibrations.
2 Press and hold Photo and Cancel together to make a calibration print.
3 Follow the instructions on the calibration print to calibrate the printer.

My Deskjet 970cxi printer is now using too much ink (which does not dry) when printing photos on premium photo paper. the results on ordinary paper are much better. How can I rectify this Ian

Hi,

When you give a photo print, the print quality will be high.
To adjust this go to Printer properties.
1) Go to control panel
2) Open Printers and Faxes.
3) Right Click on Printers.
4) Select Printer Properties.
5) Select Printing Preferences, and choose quality of photo print to medium

Why does the printer use one black cartridge and not the other? Is there some way of instructing it to use the left hand one too?

the pixma printers use the large black tank in most modes like text and standard (default) or fast photo printing .. thats most economical when you are using just plain paper .... it will switch to the small black tank only if you select "High" quality mode .. that black matches the nature of the color inks much better and results in really good color pictures if you are using Gloss or Matt high quality photo paper .. you can select the quality level by the following ... when you start to print, a window comes up where you can select which printer you want ... at the right of this window is "preferences" .. click that .. now select the type of paper and "High" quality mode .... now the printer will slow down but will provide really nice results and it will use the small tank black ink instead of the large tank ....the small tank is only used for "high" quality photo prints which is only needed for high quality photo paper .. if you havent tried that yet you might want to get some glossy photo paper (either Canons or Costco has great stuff if you want a lot, like 150 sheets) but most glossy paper will work except colors might need tweeking for some ... print a nice photo in the high quality mode and you should be really impressed .. and you will be using your small black ink tank .. you might want to make the first few pictures small (2x3 inch) untill you are sure everything is the way you want it .. i usually print in the top left corner first .. then reinsert the same paper and try again right next to that .. i do that until i get the colors perfect .. then i print big .. 5x7 or even 8x10 on a new sheet... the high quality mode can be selected for just plain paper and it will use the special black ink but it doesnt result in a better picture .. so no point in doing that unless you want to experiment .. if you never print high quality photos then you will never use the small tank black ink .. it will still be used up eventually because of normal head cleaning the machine does automatically .. ...
grey scaling does not select the special ink unless you select "High" for the quality setting .. then yes you can print using that small tank black ..again it will buy you a lot if you are using High quality photo paper ... almost nothing for plain paper but at least it will allow you to use that ink .. ..

Refer to my previous post about manual under head cleaning and follow the routine through. This will most likely get you going as sounds like classic blocked nozzles. http://www.fixya.com/support/t137335-problem_print_outs_from_printer
