Question about Cameras
Rotate the control dial on the top of the camera to the SET UP position. Cycle through the menu options down to where you see "reset camera" This may work only for a while, do it again, and again, when it "locks up".
Re-format the memory card, on your computer if you can.
Turn off the VR, try using it then.
Remove, replace the battery.
Many people have had this problem, most have had to send it back to Nikon. The above option have helped a few, but no guarantees.
