Question about Royal CIA 12X Shredder

1 Answer

Instructions for use needed

This was given to us, but there are no instructions and we can't get it to work. Where can I get instructions for use and troubleshooting? It's a Royal, but not a shredder. It's shipping scales and the model is ex315w.

Today I bought a Fellowes shredder #W10C. The instructions show an on-off button on the back of the shredder. There is not one therefore the machine does not work

the machine has switch on front that has an I O R
I think there is also a lock out switch. the machine will do nothing until you put the switch on the I position and insert a piece of paper, then is will start up. O is the off position and R is for reverse.
good luck with this.

Only work on reverse

After seeing a suggestion for a similar post I got a can of compressed air from a computer store to clear the sensors in the paper feed. It needed a long blast but it started working again. Tip. My instructions say, every 6 months, put a few drops of olive oil on a sheet and feed thru; try doing every couple of months to stop the sensors getting covered in dust

I have a Ativa DQ60M Paper Shredder and it is very clogged with paper and it looks like some of the blades are slightly bent. Can it be sent in for repair or warranty?

Take away info: 3-year warranty on cutter.

Office Depot item #405935: Ativa DQ83M Diamond-Cut Shredder (mine show model ...Mn. It has a 1-year warranty for product, BUT ALSO a 3-year warranty for the "cutting cylinders". Call 1-877-777-HELP; www.ativaproducts.com .
I called 12-29-2010. Rep had difficulty finding product, put me on hold, found it. Said prod only has 1-yr w (per Office Depot online, this is all that is given as to info); but I said, no, 3-yr on cutter. I held again, rep researched and agreed. I took a case number and tried rep's troubleshooting suggestion: I put 3-in-1 oil (veg oil suggested by rep too) on the jammed shredded paper (machine still would go in reverse BTW); I let it soak 5 mins, removed paper, tried shredding, and paper jammed again. No replacement parts are avl. I called again, gave case number. Rep suggested I oil the cutter now that paper was removed. I said cutters are oiled from removing paper. I was put on hold, only a short while.

Good outcome thus far: I was given fax number and instructions to receive gift card in 6-8 weeks upon their receipt of my fax (to 1-888-561-0785) of case number, name (first and last), mailing address, and copy of the receipt.

What I learned: Do the maintenance oiling monthly or more if needed! Try to buy a shredder that is beyond my shred needs, e.g., a 10-sheet cutter but use it only up to 8 pages. Try to buy a shredder that has replacement parts.

The price of the Ativa in 2008 was $40 ($30 instant savings taken at the register), and it didn't get daily or regular use.

Good product support on this Ativa product. Glad I saved my manual and receipt!!

Safe sense yellow light flashing, but shredder works fine

the flashing indicates a past jam or safe sense turned off . you can reset the error by following the instructions in the owners manual. if you do not have manual go to www.fellowes.com , support and download the owners manual for your model.

I was given a laminator but it does not have instruction booklet, how does it work?

the main way they work is that you have the laminate pouch into which you slide your paper then make sure that the pouch is put between the guides closed side first the machine will take a while to warm up after you have plugged it in when the green light is on push the pouch in slowly the motor should turn and feed the pouch in automatically.. the important thing is to make sutre the pouch is correct for the type of machine you have and that when feeeding in the pouch it goes in closed end first otherwise it could open and jam.. Good luck A>>

Squeeling belt? How to replace?

A tech would be the best idea. The unit you own is chiniese and very hard to find parts for, so you may need to call around a little.

Paper shredder

The only solution with respect to safety is to order a new switch from the companuy that manufactures/sells this shredder, and mount it according to the manufacturer/sales company's instructions.
If you want to bypass the safety of the machine, just keep the cables (should be 2, + eventually a ground cable) open, or shorted, depending of the machine's configuration. Remember that this is on your or your collegaues own risk!! A shredder can easily bite your finger off!
