Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

I have just purchase a new GE JDP47 range, and am hooking it up now. The GE delivery people left me with a 4 wire plug. They said I need it for code. When I removed old GE range, I found that it only had 3 wires. Home Depot, where I purchesd it said that I could use the 4 wire plug, just connect the ground and nuetral to the nuetral connection together on the range. Is that correct ????

Open sensor circuit or intermittent sensor connection. First you need to check the sensor, to test it disconnect power, pull the range or oven out then take off the back cover. Once off, you should see the two small wires that are from the sensor and you need to disconnect them (some have a plug but if you have to cut the wires). Now using your ohmmeter , measure resistance between the wires going to the sensor. It should be somewhere between 1050 and 1150 ohms. Note that this test should be done while the oven is at room temperature. If the sensor is open (or not within that range) replace sensor.. you did this but have seen bad sensors new, if not check the wiring between sensor and control. If you don't find any loose connections, the problem may be in the control board but the sensor is much cheaper, so testing with a ohmmeter and cking wiring will totally eliminate that. Sensors and control boards can be purchased at
or they who I use. they have online chat and 800# to talk with a tec. if needed before ordering or install questions.
Hopefully tis a bad new sensor or loose wire connection.
Hope this helps a little.

I just bought a used jbp82 and the plug does not fit the house plug in. Its a 3 prong and the stove is a 4 prong. Can this be worked out somehow?

You need to change the plug from the old stove to the new stove. It is easy to do. Black on right. white in center, and red on left. The 4th wire is the ground or green. You will not have that one to hook up.

Please advise me the correct wiring method for the mains connection of a kacher HDS10/20-4 m, as ther is not a plug connection already afixed, and ther are four wires extending from the mains cable black...

you should be able to tell by following the wires. 2011 code is that all ranges require 4 wires 2 live (to make 220) and 1 ground and one neutral which are essentially the same. However I cannot tell you that you can hook up the neutral and ground to the same wire. Code requires two separate wires (which you probably don't have if this is a new replacement and you haven't done it recently) Is there a difference between ground and neutral if you look in a fuse box you will see they are sometime connected to the same bar. What you should do short of running a new wire from the box I can't tell you just want you to be aware what is going on

The stove will beep and show a fs code. what is the problem with it. it does it when she id=s baking, and yesterday when the stove was not being used.

Haven't seen an "fs" code on this unit, but here's an article about GE oven error codes and failures that may help with your diagnosis:

I was cleaning my ge flat top electric stove when i heard a buzzing sound and the oven controls quit working

Sounds as if moisture has gotten into the oven controls. If it did the control has shorted out.

My GE cycle dryer came without wire to plug in. What right wire do I need to buy and how do I hook up it?

Dryers and Ranges are not sold with power cords. The reason being you may have a 3 prong recepticle (original) or a 4 prong recepticle (new construction or remodel). Check the number of holes in your recepticle and purchase the proper cord. The fact it's high voltage and the connections have to be correct and tight, I suggest you have a qualified appliance service technician or electrician install the cord. At the very least use a reputable handyman.

F7 code flashes and beeps

F7 stuck keypad
Stuck keypad may mean relay is turned on.
Determine if problem is with the Key Panel or Control by:
1. Pushing CLEAR/OFF pad.
2. Disconnecting Ribbon Cable from control and waiting at least 32 seconds to see if Code recurs

If code recurs, problem is in the control. Replace control.

If code does not recur, problem is with the Key Panel.

Oven and keypad will not work.

longtallez The first thing I would recommend you to do is to reset the power. Locate the circuit breaker for the range and turn it off, wait a few minutes and turn it back on. It works the same way like you reboot you PC when it gets stocked. Let me know if it would not help and we will go further. back
