You didn't indicate the model - so I copied a reply I gave for someone with the same problem on a nuvi 760 below. The last step - a call to Garmin Support - will solve the problem for any Garmin model.
Your GPS might need a trip back to the factory if the screen has stopped
responding to touch. But before doing that, you might want to try the
screen calibration routine below:
1) Shut the 760 off.
2) Put your finger anywhere on the screen and hold it there while performing the following steps.
3) Turn the 760 back on with the slider switch and quickly slide it to the lock position.
4)
Keep holding that finger on the screen for about 20 seconds or so -
then follow the calibration instructions on the screen. You might want
to use a stylus or other narrow, blunt object instead of your finger to
get pinpoint accuracy.
