Most times, the glass tops are more costly than a whole new range. Depending on the AGE of this range, consider a new one or have a professional replace the top. Time is wasting!

You need the model number of the range to get the correct manual. Most Amana manuals are available here: http://www.amana.com/content.jsp?pageName=CustServ . The model number is on the frame of the range behind the storage drawer. Often you need a flashlight and fairly good vision to read off the characters on the plaque.

yes you can replace it....you actually get the entire top not just the glass....Tappan is a spin off of Fridgidaire so you would have to get ahold of them to get the top just need to give them your model number....price usually ranges from $200 to $350

The cost for a new glass top is around $220 plus S&H (+/-). It is a relatively straightforward removal and replacement process, where all you need to do is disconnect the range from the power plug and pull it out from your counter, etc. and remove the rear fastening screws that hold the backsplash onto the top surface frame and exchange it for the replacement top.

Just be carefull when removing the old, broken top, as the glass will likely shatter more as you remove the frame. Wear safety glasses and work gloves to prevent getting cut, etc. All you need are simple hand tools to do the repair.

I always like to state that you might want to consider the age of the stove before committing a couple of hundred bucks to buying a repair part, but you have to decide if you're looking to keep and repair your stove, or whether you want to get a new one - the decision is yours to consider and make.
