I am not showing a Satellite Pro L10 I am showing a L300 series and an L350 series. Can you confirm that it is an L10 by the model sticker on the bottom of the laptop.

Here's a disassembly guide for the L10. It shows the location of the connector. http://www.armedpineapple.co.uk/2009/11/toshiba-satellite-pro-l10-laptop-disassembly-instructions/

There should be a short ribbon cable coming from the underside of the "palmrest" or trackpad area. You might get some good information at Repair4Laptop. They have a bunch of take apart guides for Toshiba's (click for link) though the L10 isn't listed. I'm sure one is very similar as most toshiba's are built with a similar structure. This is for the M10 and is a motherboard replacement diagram. Step 17 shows the take apart of the laptop trackpad. Here's a picture of it. It requires taking off the keyboard first to get at, but might be easy to repair/replace. Hope this helped.

It should be located just about two inches from the touchpad as you look twards the computer screen. I take it you have the keyboard off and removed to acces the motherboard correct. An easy way to figure out where it goes is to set the plastic back to where it goes (not secure it but just set it on the base) then look at where the connecting cables reach to and they should just reach to where it plugs in. Also, it is rather (no offence meant by this) idiot proof in the sense that the connections are set so you cannot miswire it. IE it only fits the plug one way.

Touch pad not functioning

Hi jon bernardo...

To fix an unresponsive touchpad on your laptop, reactivate it by using the Function key on the keyboard and the Fn key.

This process is different for each computer manufacturer.
If unsure which Function key enables and disables the touchpad, try each one at a time and then
attempt to use the touchpad after each one.

A...Locate the "Fn" key of the laptop keyboard.
The "Fn" key has different colored text or the key is a different color.
B...Locate the function (F1 through F12) key at the top of the keyboard that disables or enables the touchpad on the laptop.
The key typically has an icon that resembles a touchpad with a finger touching it or a touchpad with a diagonal line through it.
C...Press both the "Fn" and touchpad Function key at the same time to reactive the touchpad on your laptop.
Move your finger along the touchpad to verify that it works. Press the combination at any time to disable the touchpad again.
Note: Mac computers use "F2" to enable and disable the touchpad.
D. Sony Vaio Users: Start>Settings>Control Panel>Double click the Mouse icon.
Look at the top left hand side of the page, at the top and make sure that the "Tapping" box is unchecked, if it is checked then, you will uncheck it.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

hi flyrech,
You can just your touchpad needs a driver for it to work fine again. Here's the link:

http://www.driversforfree.com/omn_ofm_omd/toshiba/satellite/m35x-s109/drivers.aspx

Just download and install the "Toshiba Alps touchpad driver".
Hope this helps, inform me this is solution effective or not. Thanks.

The touchpad mouse on my toshiba salellite does not function even though it shows it working properly when you go into the touchpad icon. I have an external wireless mouse (usb) hooked up that works fine...

The touchpad is most probably defective. If you have dropped your laptop the touchpad cable could have get out from its connector on the mainboard. You can get a new touchpad/palmrest on ebay. You have to remove your touchpad/palmrest as shown in the link below, steps 17 to 19 :

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-A105/remove-motherboard-1.htm

Identify the part number of your touchpad/palmrest. Search on ebay.com : Toshiba Satelitte A105 palmrest. Buy the one with the same part numer as yours.

...or have your laptop repaired by a professional.

My touchpad it keeps scrolling, can I turn this off?

there should be a button/switch on the front or near the touchpad it self to disable it when not in use.

Or check control panel>mouse for additional touchpad settings

make sure u have the latest drivers installed http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=SB&os=&category=&moid=2234110&rpn=PSMD8U&modelFilter=+M305-S4915&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663

Touchpad is not working - TOSHIBA Satellite A135-2386

Hey there... :D

Could you try the Fn+F9 Key to Disable/Enable your touchpad mouse?

Because just now i've experiencing the same problem as you guys... and turns out I can make my touchpad working just by pressing the Fn+F9 key.

Note: if your Fn key is not working try installing Toshiba utilities for A135 called FlashCard, run the program and there will be a dropdown menu at the upperside of your screen...
then click on F9 >> and choose Enable.... Thats It... :)

I hope it also solved your problem... :D
