id recommend something like the above item, your pc will recognise this as a new hard drive and will assign it a letter in the my computer folder. You will have to move your items yourself unless you buy an automatic backup software program. Personally i think that would be a waste of money. Your windows installation will be less than 10Gb so you have a lot of other stuff on there, music pictures, movies etc. Its these things that you can move to this new drive, by dragging them from their folders into new folders on the new drive. this gives you a certain amount of backup just in case your machine needs resetting the files are separate, and the new drive can be unplugged and plugged into a new machine.

How replace a larg hard drive eones 433?

Well, the computer is so old that you may not be able to upgrade the hard drive very much. If you do decide to you will need a PATA hard drive and I would suggest not going over 100GB since I don't know what operating system and service pack you are using, as older operating systems can only see so much hard drive disk space.

I tried to install Windows XP and now it only sees half the hard disk of 320 GB that is only 160.

Hi, You can check the available **** space on your computer by going to Disk Management Utility in Windows XP. You can go to the utility by going to run then typing compmgmt.msc > then click on Disk Management > this utility will indicate the free space and also will give the total size of you hard disk drive. See if there is an unallocated disk space on the computer. You can right-click on it then choose to format it and then assign a disk drive letter like drive d: . Thank you for choosing Fixya.com for resolving your issue

Hi im sachin want to purchase 1 tb hard disk of cgate and LCD of ither samsung or sony.... 1. will support an external USB hard drive on this lcd's ? 2.is there any other type of hard disk i need to...

I do not know if the 1 Tb external hard will work on the USB ports on the LCD TVs.
What do you want to store on the 1 Tb USB hard drive and display on the LCD TVs?
Most LCD TVs can access USB memory sticks and display DVI movies (if supported by the TV), photos etc. that are stored on these USB memory sticks.
Try inserting an USB hard drive (borrow one if necessary, can be any capacity) into the USB port to see if it works before you decide to purchase a 1 Tb USB hard drive.
My suggestion would be to purchase a 1 Tb USB memory stick. This would out perform an external USB hard drive.

My pc tells me that I'm running out of hard drive

You can use either.

You can also use external portable hard disk, you can move all your software and stuff to it.

Better would be installing a new operating system to new hard **** with larger capacity, it will make your system fast.

You can also fit hard disk in your computer PC cabinet, you will just need to set it as "Slave" or secondary hard disk, to do this, setting is available on the hard disk.

Hard disk drive D reads 9.16 used GB space....the free disk reads 1.24 space. That is only 1/4 of the whole pie shown. I was told that I still have a lot of space...how is that?

Hello your D: drive is most likely a Windows Operating system backup drive only to use when your computer crashes so you do not use Drive D: for anything on your system Drive C: however is your main system drive where all of your programs are kept you should have a 320GB hard drive if im not mistaken but the drive is Portioned which means basicly windows takes a piece of the 320 GB drive and sets it up as another Drive which is your Drive D and all the rest is on your Drive C so if you check the settings on your drive C you should have plenty of space available this is why you have a lot of space left im assuming if your C drive isn't full

Do you know about computer GB free disk space

Yes. you have 221 gb available disk storage left. 5 gb will hardly make a dent in that.

You can right click on the computer icon and then select properties to view a pie chart representation of available space if that makes it easier for you.

Drive C, full

Save all your files, your disk is risking to collapse at any time.
You cannot efficently run Vista on a 10 GB hard disk.
Minim efficient size it will be 40 GB or so.

Delete as many useless files as you can, use the hard drive cleaning tool that you find under all programs/accessories/system tools.

To save your file you can use the backup option in control panel, and save all files to an external USB stick or external hard drive or, do not use CD RW because the disk is full and there will be no space for disk image on hard drive.

If you want to keep using Vista I suggest replacing the hard drive for a bigger one.

How big is your hard drive?
Download ccleaner from:

http://www.ccleaner.com/

this will get rid of all your uneeded files.

go to start>my computer>

then right click on your c: drive and select properties.

this will tell you how much of your drive is used.
Defragging usually dosent pay any rewards when you take into account how long it takes compared to any benefits.

if space is that tight then i suggest buying an external usb hard drive. these are cheap and easy to install and you can copy all of your non system files over to it.

HARD DISK CAPACITY PROBLEM

When your hard disk capacity says 320, that does not mean 320 GB fo free space, Total capacity is 320 GB, from this space required for the partition table, boot sector, etc will be taken, Dont worry only the available free space will be shown.

This is not a problem, so dont worry.

Dont forget to rate me fixya
