Kenmore side-by-side Ice Maker problems

I have a Kenmore side by side that produces ice very slowly. When brand new, it would produce ice very quickly, but now it takes weeks to fill the bin back up.  It seems to harvest ice once a day. I have tuned up the coldness of the freezer in hopes it would speed up production, but does not. I have also made sure that the arm is down, which it has been for a while. I can also feel the ice in the tray, it feels solid but doesn't seem to want to dispense it into the bucket quickly.   I can hear it dump ice into the bin, like I said, about once a day. After doing some research, I am leaning toward the heating element in the tray (if there is one). The thing that gets me is this refrigerator is only 2 1/2 years old! Thanks p.s. please respond to me via this news group. I have the same problem and my unit is only 3 years old. What's up? my model # is106.56576400

My ice maker is making ice but very slowly. I have checked the water line to make sure water is flowing and that the line at the ice maker is not blocked in any way. Could it be a faulty selenoid switch?

for how long very slowly?in every 2 hour the water become ice but the ice produce in your ice maker is maximum of 15 pcs small cubes, its means depend on the tray if is big or small. if you use your ice in every 30minute or your family is using an ice by 1bottle its means the ice produce is not enougth for your family.and the tray becomes empty after you use at the same time. but if the unit is hard to make an ice or frozen your frezer side its the unit is have a problem but is not to easy to repair by if your self coz the part inside is hard to remove.

Ice maker not putting out water just hooked up ice maker kit

Are you getting ice? It seems like my brand-new electrolux does not produce cold water unless it is producing ice as well. We had to adjust the auger in the ice tray to start getting ice ... seems like our water is now getting colder.

Ice maker not making ice. do have water, no ice

The ice maker has a problem The ice maker is a separate appliance within the freezer section. Please see the How things Work section of our website to learn about the normal functioning of ice makers. Some common problems with ice makers are:

The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice
The ice maker is producing ice poorly
The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

The ice maker is producing ice poorly When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs
