If freezer works airflow into reefer box from the freezer box is too low, ironically enough although the thermostat saying 1-10 and OFF, controls the temperature/compressor operation setpoints desired, but the second setting saying COLDER/WARMER, when set to COLDER actually makes the freezer box colder by starving the reefer box!!! if you back of that settting to middle the reefer will get air again, A very common issue , caused by this wording, it says COLDER freeezer if you really look most just peg both and say hey the reefers warm and freezers cold??and both are set max cold, or so it seems!
did anyone help you with this problem? i have a similar problem but my freezer works fine in the summer. it does not stay cold enough in the winter. i keep the frige in my garage as a spare but it's not very helpful when it doesn't work! a repair person told me it was too cold in my garage for the freezer to work...not sure why, the frige part works fine. i'm looking into a blanket insulator from appliance zone to see if that will help.
Sounds like defrost timer is not putting the refrigerator in defrost every 8 hours. You freezer should be below -5 degrees. Also the condenser beneath the refrigerator possibly needs cleaning. First slowly turn the defrost timer clockwise until freezer goes in defrost. You should hear the sound of crackling noise in freezer after about one minute into defrost. If timer does not come out of defrost or does not turn itself then replace it. Let me know what you find, Thanks Sea Breeze
sounds like you may have gotten a refridgerant leak causing a low charge condition. some refridgerators have a evaporator fan if this quit working it will cause it to freeze up .thus the freezer does not use a fan and it will still get cold
look at the back inside wall of the freezer. you might need to put your hand on it to feel it. if you see or feel frost the you have a defrost problem. if its not defrosting the frost builds up and blocks air flow from the freezer to the frige so the frige cant cool. it will either be the defrost element, defrost thermostat or the defrost timer causing the problem
