Dont go with repairing hard drive because if it gets repaired also you can not depen on it ,because it may crash at any time and data is always important.so go with replacing the hard drive
if you want to recover something from your hard drive go with recovery software............
Good Luck.

HP2009 Boot up does not load to login prompt

What is it prompting you?

Is text blinking on a black screen and saying "Please insert a bootable media drive" or something along those lines? If so, your hard drive may have given out!

Regardless you're going to have to reformat the computer, you can test if the Hard Drive is dead by in fact installing windows (or any OS) on it. If it refuses and fails chances are the hard drive is dead! Another possibility is the SATA (or IDE no clue what you're using!) port could be damaged which the Hard Drive plugs into.

Pretty much, tell me what it prompts you and I could guide you from there buddy! :)

Sony VGC-LT2S HD Error_ How to Open the Computer?

Your drive is inside the computer ... if you remove it your computer is dead. If you put a new hard drive in ... your computer is still dead. What will you do for an operating system? Do you have an idea what is involved in this process? Why are you doing this? Do you have a operatding system and license to install?

If you are in the USA, please take your computer to the big box place that offers free computer checkup and repair starting at about $30.00

Booting up computer and it states a problem with the hard drive has been detected. Press enter. I press enter and the screen seems to be scrolling what do i do

Usually this means that your hard drive has been corrupted, and it's attempting to either run a chkdsk, or other system application to fix it.

Personally, I would see if I could boot into another Operating system, using either another harddrive, or a Live-CD such as Ubuntu and seeing if you can access the dead or dieing drive and salvage your files or perform a repair.

Good luck.

I need to replace the dead hard drive in my dell dimension 4500s. Current dead drive is a 40GB Ultra ATA-100 (7200 RPM). Can someone tell me what I can upgrade to. I think I have the flat data cable so it...

You can replace the hard drive with a larger capacity hard drive. Best bet would be a 250GB .
Hard drive have come down in prices, you should be able to get a 250 GB. for less then $100.
Western Digital ansd Seagate are my preference.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Dell Dimension 8200 turns off in BIOS

If the dianostic lights A & D are yellow an IDE bus failure has occurred. Reseat the IDE cables at the motherboard and drive(s). If this does not resolve the issue you may need to contact Dell for a motherboard repair or replacement.

I have a laptop gateway computer, the power light is on but everything else is dead, I cannot get the hard drive to eject, all this seem to happen after I got a virus?will this have anything to do with my...

Check all connections mate . Any one of the below could be faulty :-

Power outlet at the wall - try plugging something else into the socket or use a different socket

Are you using any multi-plug adapters? Plug the laptop straight into the mains

Your DC jack may be loose (Where the charger plugs in). This is a common problem and most laptops will get this during their life. Take if to a repair shop to get it fixed. A quick way of checking this is to plug the charger in and wiggle the cord - if the socket where the charger plugs in moves , its a loose jack and it will need to be resoldered.

Dead Battery - Try another battery , or let the battery charge - Try running directly off the mains

Hard drive wont eject? - There not supposed to , the only way you usually disconnect the hard drive is by unscrewing it from the laptop.

How far can you get when you say "Everything else is dead"? can you get to the BIOS? , does anything appear on the screen aty all? If you get a picture but cant boot then its likely that the virus corrupted your windows installation which means you will have to use the repair discs that came with the laptop or another windows install disc to reinstall windows - This will however , lose any documents , music , programs etc that you put on - If you want to keep things off the drive , plug it into another laptop , get all your data back then reinstall into your own laptop. If you rtry putting the drive in another laptop and things dont work and you cant even get your data or the drive doesnt appear , you will need a new hard drive and then have to reinstall windows on the new drive

your hard drive may be dead, try unpluggin the hard drive and plug it back in. Hopefully your motherboard will detect the hard drive, if this doesn't work, most likely your hard drive is dead
