MS Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel

I am trying to set the wheel up to run Dirt Track Racing2, I can calibrate it on the computer, but when I get into the game to set the steering axis and brake and gas pedals I cannot do it. Somehow I think the buttons might have gotten messed with if that has anything to do with it. I use a USB port on A HP Compaq with XP Pro. It is now plugged into a front port, someone told me to move the plug around to different ports. I was going to call Atari then I saw this web site. My email is raphmp1@verizon.net.
