Question about Philips 60PP9202 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Picture turned green

Set was working great, but picture turned green for last night. So I turned it off. Looked right again this morning when I had it on for a short time, but I suspect that same thing is going to occur sooner or later. Am I looking at a costly CRT replacement, or could it be something minor? Thanks very much in advance for any advice/help anyone can give me?

Thanks very much for the really fast and very helpful response, Dr. Video. My next question is: assuming that it is the blue tube, is that something I can buy and replace myself, like the tubes I used to replace in my older TV's? Or will I need a repairman do it, given that I'm very capable of de-soldering and re-soldering components?

Considering that the tube is $160, I figure I could replace all 3 of them for the same price I would pay a repairman, and I wouldn't have to worry about the others going bad in the near future.

    Thanks again for the advice.

It sound like a bad tube there are three tubes red green and blue.
i suspect the blue tube is bad. tubes cost 160.00 plus labor 450.total . sometimes the tubes
can be fixed or the tv tech can adjust the screen voltage on the tube.

good luck thanks jay leadingedgeelectronics.com

if you are mechanical you can do this you just have to be careful there is fluid in the tubes.I gave you prices on tubes not the yokes with tubes. the hard part is setting the yoke up corectly with the tube or your convergence will be off

here is phillips phone number give them a call and see if they have any in stock latley tubes for projectors have been hard to get. and maybe get the manual.. I will be worried if you do this but good luck DOCTOR VIDEO LEADINGEDGEELECTRONICS SINCE 1987. 18002555122

My Avis flat screen HD TV has sound but no picture.

First thing to try is if using a box for signal unplug both that and the set from power for several minutes and then plug back, it is possible the issue will be gone and the set working normal again.

if you can get another one for a reasonable i would certainly consider that. the cost to get these lcd's fixed sometimes is not worth it. you seem to have more than one problem with the set.

I have a Philips Plasma tv 42pf5321d/37 with sound but no picture

Thats the great sound of Exploding capacitors on either the power supply board. or another one in there. Now the set is in fault protection. It tried to warn you with the RED blinking LED that there was something amiss by shutting itself down. When you unplugged you reset the error and allowed it to do it again.

Green horizontal lines on screen no picture

The green CRT's (color picutre tube or color wheel, or ballast) will need to be tested for replacement.
It is quite common with these tv's

You will need an ohmmeter and or voltmeter and test each component for currency and accuracy

No picture, sound ok

Rca has been known to have bad solder joints in the deflection circuits. Usually around the flyback and transformers.. check it over real good. Just be careful as you can still get shocked after the powers removed the capacitors and picture tube will hold a charge in them.
