Mitsubishi VS-50707 Hello, For about 3 months my projection tv Mitsubishi VS-50707 image have been distorted. Scrambled horizontal curved lines all across of screen. At first the image would be distorted as soon as the tv was turned on but after 45 minutes to a hour the image would go back to normal. For the past few weeks the image still scrambles as first described but every once in while it shrinks horizontally to a total display of about 20 inches, eventually going back the the full scrambled screen image and does not go back to normal at all. Finally, I placed a service call to Sears. The technician told me that it had something to do with the deflection board and that this job would run for about $600. My concern is: Would it be worthy to fix an 8 year old tv? is this price Accurate? and is it something I could probably fix myself? being that I'm tech oriented. I found the deflection board diagram on the internet. Is there any way, you can tell me which part can be causing this problem. Any comments or assistance will be greatly appreciated.

The problem could in the 9Volt, and 3 Volt regulator supplies.
    Replacing C2P05 (100ufd. @ 16 VDC), and C2P08 (also 100 @ 16 ) might fixed problem. They are located near IC2P01, and IC2P03.

Mitsubishi vs-55707 or vs-50707????? bouncing horizontal lines weird color

If the picture looks like a 3D then you have a convergence failure.
I would suggest to visually inspect the STK Ics for dry or crystallized solder joints.

Mitsubishi VS-50707 50 in. Rear Projection...

There is a quick test you can do to determine if the problem is in your PIP module, using two 4.7uf/50v electrolytic capacitors. The PIP module plugs into two connectors on the main board. Remove the PIP module, and on connector VP on the main board (the 11 pin connector), use one cap to jumper from pin 7 to 9 (negative lead on pin 9); and use the other cap to jumper from pin 5 to 11 (negative lead on pin 11). If the PIP module is bad, you will now have video. The PIP module has surface mount capacitors that go bad. Just make sure you solder a small lentgh of wire to the capacitor leads to prevent them from shorting as they cross over each other. Just plug the wires into the socket no need to solder them.

Mitsubishi vs 50707 50 inch projection tv problem

on the signal board replace the caps by the 5/9 volt regulators. c2p04 is the main culprit. 6 caps in total can be changed. I believe c2p05 also.

No Blue. Horizontal Lines.

Not to me, but it also depends on if you could do this yourself or not. And the area you are in sometimes is responsible for the cost being high.
