Question about Lexmark E232 Laser Printer

LED lights permanently on

Hi - I have just inherited this printer from within the company, and fitted a new Toner Cartridge and Photoconductor Kit.  Out of the five LED lights, the second one and the bottom one remain lit.  I have reset the Photoconductor counter as instructed on the information that came with the parts, but now both the photoconductor/toner light and the exclamation light remain on.  Any ideas?  Thanks

I am having the same problem. While researching the problem I found on the lexmark web site that this printer has a recall if purchased before 2004 and a possible recall if purchased after 2004. Check the website for additional information.

Orange light is constantly flickering. I have put a new toner cartridge and now a new photoconductor kit in and it is still flashing

Please make sure to reset the printers' pc count. Below are the steps.
1. open the front cover. Leave the printer powered on. 2. With the front cover open, press and hold the stop/cancel (pattlnk_392009_184-e260%20stop%20button.gif) button. 3. Eventually all of the lights will begin flashing, indicating that the photoconductor page count has reset. When you see this light sequence, let go of the pattlnk_392009_184-e260%20stop%20button.gif button. 4. Close the front cover.
If you wish to confirm that the photoconductor page count has reset, print a menu settings page.

The printer toner light is continuously flashing even after putting in a new cartridge

After installing a new cartridge and the blinking light is on Toner Low, it means that the photoconductor is almost full and should be replaced soon. Press and release the Continue button (green button) to clear the light sequence and continue processing the print job. If the light is still blinking, replace the photoconductor kit.

My toner cartridge was recently replaced (we use the proper cartridges, not refills) and within about 3 weeks (sooner than last time) the "toner low" light is flashing. The print quality is still perfect....

Whenever you replace the photoconductor kit, you will also need to manually reset the photoconductor page counter. Visit the Lexmark website at, for the instructions on how to reset the pc page count. You can also contact Lexmark technical support or your authorized service provider for additional assistance.

We have a Dell 1700 at our office and the drum light is flashing and the page prints out stating the photoconductor kit is at the end of its useful life - so we ordered a new one. We received and installed...

There is nothing on the photoconductor unit to 'tell' the printer that it is new, you have to do this yourself, by following the photocinductor reset procedure (it's in the manual, or

Dell 1700

1) Leave the power on, insert toner cartridge, and leave door open
2) Press the cancel button and hold till the leds flash
3) Release cancel button and close toner cartridge door

If the main problem is just the toner light on then what you could do after installing the new toner is resetting the printer. You could do that by powering the printer off, open the front cover (as if you were to replace the toner) with the front cover open and the printer off push and hold the two buttons on the printer and turn the printer on while holding down the buttons then once the bottom light stays on solid, release the two buttons and that should reset the printer.
Now if the toner light is blinking that means that you have reached the 30,000 page mark and the Photoconductor needs to be replaced. If that is not the case you can follow this link to a procedure where it will explain how to reset the Photoconductor.

Power up init fails

When you replaced the photoconductor, did you go through the procedure to reset the photoconductor counter ?

There's no chip on the photoconductor, so you need to reset this manually

Photoconductor Reset Procedures:
Step 1:
Open the front door and hold the
Cancel button until all lights begin to cycle.

Step 2: Close the front door. The warning
clears and the counter resets to zero.

Step 3: Press Continue to resume printing.
