Sounds like either a bad internal control board, or a bad power supply..power supply is easier to check..voltage needs to be as specified on back of power unit

Scan button is not working

Try to rebrick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds. That will give enough time for your printer to reset. When the printer turns on, try to scan again to verify that the scan button is working.

If you are getting a "communication not available" error or any message to that effect, try to do the steps below to fix the problem:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.
2. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).
2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
4. Reboot your pc.

The main screen will not come up rebooted and it still does not light up.The screen WILL light up when you turn it off, but only for one second

Try to re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds. This will give enough time for the printer to reset itself.

It could also be that the printer is not getting enough power to function properly. Try to plug the printer into a different known working power outlet in the wall to identify if it's a faulty power outlet issue.

Try to focus on the printer itself first. Remove the cartridges from the printer, close cover then unplug the power supply. The power supply is the black box behind the printer where the power cord is attached. Wait at least 30 seconds before plugging it back in the printer. When the printer's ready, reload the cartridges. Go through the alignment process. When it's done printing the alignment page, try to make a copy. If problem persists, I recommend you contact Lexmark Technical Support for further investigation. There might a hardware issue in the printer.

Great job on plugging the printer straight to the power outlet but it doesn't seem to help and don't strain yourself on the software yet since the problem is more on the printer itself. Unplug the power supply from the printer. That's the black box behind the printer where the power cord is attached. Make sure the LED around its contacts is lighting up solid green. Then plug it back in (hard) after 10-15 seconds. If this doesn't help either, I strongly suggest you contact Lexmark Technical Support for further assistance. Thanks.
