because in some moment the fusing temperature was more high than the optimal. maybe it is just because of precaution issued the SC542. or maybe is problem . you need to reset the SC542 by entering the service mode. for this if you call service they will charge you big money. so if it is just issued just as precaution by doing the following procedure the machine will work fine again. but if the code do not clear do not repeat the procedure more than ones that you can make bigger damage that it has have before the code. so follow the next procedure: first enter service menu by pressing the following keys in order. press the yellow clear key the pres 107 and then press the red clear/stop key until on he screen write service menu or something other than the usual screen. after that appear. turn the machine of by the left side switch and wait 5 seconds, than turn it in again. if starts to work everything is okey . if the SC542 appear again do not repeat the procedure. call a serice techician
procedure for reset this firstly enter in service mode. You should have a service technician come look at the machine. sc542 is a fuser code, which could mean that a thermostat was blown, or it could be a dirty or defective thermistor. A Ricoh technician will be able to inspect the fuser and make that determination, and hopefully get you up and running right away!
Change the thermistors in the fusor (2).
1. Press the Clear Mode key.
2. Use the keypad to enter .107..
3. Hold down Clear/Stop for at least 3 seconds.
4. Enter the Service Mode.
Turn off and on the copier to reset the code.
sc 542 is when the machine cant warm up to temperature for whatever reason usually entering service mode via clear 107 clear stop and rebooting clears the code if that dosnt work then the next step is call a service engineer
