Why does my boss 1600 watt diablo amp cut off at high volumes

Chances are your speakers are running at to low of impedance. Check if your running aftermarket. speakers, if so they are probably wired in parralle. Change the wiring to "series"increasingly your impedance from 2ohms to 8, that should solve your issue.

I had my boss 2400 watt 2 channel amp hooked up in my car. I had one sub on each channel and one of my subs blew. I unhooked the positive speaker wire on the blown sub, everything was fine. Driving down...

If your amp started smoking, probably not. Due to your description, did the other sub really blow? I would hook it up to another amp to test it. It may have been a channel in your amp. As for repairing the amp, the parts and labor to repair will probably cost you more that to just replace the amp.

Not a problem just a question

  • 100 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
  • 200 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms
  • 400 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms in bridged mode
  • stereo or bridged mono output
  • 4-ohm stable in bridged mode
  • Tri-Way capable
  • requires 8-gauge power and ground leads — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier
  • 50-250 Hz high-pass/low-pass (12 dB/octave) crossovers
  • wired remote included for fingertip control of Punch Bass (0-18 dB boost at 45 Hz)
  • MOSFET power supply and output devices
  • MEHSA mounting technology increases the heat transfer from the MOSFET output devices to the heat sink, for higher power output, lower operating temperatures, and greater reliability
  • TOPAZ — noise-killing differential inputs that eliminate 80% of ground loop noise
  • Trans•ana circuitry keeps preamp voltages low and signal paths simple for outstanding audio quality
  • NOMAD — advanced protection circuitry for "intelligent" shutdown protection
  • speaker- and preamp-level inputs
  • 11-1/8"W x 2-3/8"H x 9-7/8"D

  • Wire your sub in bridged mode (4 ohm mono)
    + to + on amplifier
    - to - on amplifier
    (using bridging terminals)

    Need instructions

most amps are self explanatory just look at the outside edges where the wires go into the amp and they are usually printed positive remote negative and so on with the speakers

    Low amp output

Make sure the BOSS isn't in "Protected" mode (Red led lit) and connect the speakers properly (check the connections if they are in "bridged" mode).
Also, make sure you set the cross-over, bass boost setting, bass volume control and the bridge mode according to the speakers you are connecting. Check the input level too.
The BOSS amplifiers are of very poor quality and it can be easily broken. Maybe yours is broken.
